Plawecki is not in the lineup Sunday against the Marlins.

Plawecki started the past three contests but has just one hit to show for it. He'll sit out of the season finale, ending his season with a .685 OPS to go with seven home runs and 30 RBI. Tomas Nido will replace him behind the plate Sunday.

Tigers general manager Al Avila said McCann, who is arbitration-eligible this offseason, might not return to the Tigers in 2019, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

McCann signed a one-year, $2.4 million deal last offseason to avoid arbitration, but Avila sounded less sure the team would take a similar approach this year. "I think there's more potential in there but he's getting to that point now where he's getting close to free agency and starting to make a little bit more money -- so we have to make a tough decision," Avila said of McCann. The 28-year-old has had a disappointing season, and with the Tigers in rebuild mode, they could try to go younger at the catcher spot. Jake Rogers, who came over from Houston in the Justin Verlander trade, is waiting in the wings, and current backup Grayson Greiner could serve as a stopgap if Rogers isn't ready in 2019.

Realmuto is not in Sunday's lineup against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Realmuto will finish the season on the bench for the second straight game and was 1-for-15 with six strikeouts in his last four games. Chad Wallach will start at catcher and bat seventh for the Marlins. Realmuto has a .277/.340/.484 slash line with 21 home runs and 74 RBI, although he could still make an appearance off the bench Sunday.

Barnhart is not in the lineup Sunday against the Pirates, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

The 27-year-old started the first two games of the series, but he'll get a day off in the season finale. If he doesn't make an appearance Sunday, Barnhart will finish the season a .700 OPS, his lowest mark since 2015 despite tallying a career-high 10 home runs. Tim Federowicz will slide in behind the plate to replace him.

Vazquez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Vazquez takes a seat for the second time in the series after going 0-for-3 with a strikeout and a stolen base Saturday. Sandy Leon gets the call behind the plate and will bat eighth for the Red Sox in the regular-season finale

McGuire hit a solo home run as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning of Saturday's loss to the Rays.

Stepping in for fellow backstop Danny Jansen, McGuire made the most of a hanging Sergio Romo slider in the ninth to pull the Jays to within one run, but the closer eventually settled down to squash any chance of a comeback. Still, the 23-year-old post-hype prospect has two homers and has gone 9-for-29 (.310) in his first 13 major-league games and might still have a shot at a long-term spot in the Jays' organization, which has been assessing its younger personnel in this downtrodden season. Of course, Toronto is stuck with Russell Martin on the books for one more year (and $20 million), and Jansen ranks as the more acclaimed prospect behind the plate.

Gomes, who left Saturday's game in the third inning, was diagnosed with a right thumb contusion and laceration, though X-rays were negative for structural damage, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

The catcher was removed from Saturday's game after Alex Gordon's backswing hit his hand during its backswing while Gomes while trying to throw out Adalberto Mondesi trying to steal a base. He was replaced by Roberto Perez, who might have to crouch Sunday if the Indians decide to rest Gomes, who's day-to-day as of this news and probably is best saved for the postseason. The veteran wound up getting stitches to address the injury but is expected to have them removed in a few days, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Narvaez left Saturday's game against the Twins with lower back stiffness, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Narvaez collected an RBI single in his lone at-bat of the evening before he was replaced by Kevan Smith in the third inning. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but he'll be considered day-to-day for now.

Hedges is not starting Saturday against Arizona.

Hedges has gone just 2-for-20 over his last seven games. A.J. Ellis will start behind the plate Saturday.

Perez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Indians, Joel Goldberg of FOX Sports Kansas City reports.

Perez was going to be limited to serving as designated hitter for the season's final series but will instead get Saturday off. Ryan O'Hearn will be the Royals' designated hitter against the Indians as Hunter Dozier starts at first base.
