  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Taking seat Friday

Bart is absent from the lineup for Friday's game versus the Athletics.

Bart had started three of the past four games and homered in the Pirates' last game Wednesday, but he'll get a breather during Friday's series opener. Henry Davis is at catcher and batting ninth.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Exiting starting nine

Stephenson is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Cubs.

Stephenson started Thursday's series opener and helped steer Hunter Greene to a shutout, but he'll get a breather in the second game of the series. Jose Trevino is at catcher and batting eighth for the Reds.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Getting breather

Dingler is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus Atlanta.

It's a routine day off after Dingler started at catcher each of the previous five contests. Jake Rogers will be behind the dish and bat ninth for the Tigers on Friday.

  • Khadim Diaw C | MIN

Twins' Khadim Diaw: Productive when healthy

Diaw missed the final month of the season for High-A Cedar Rapids due to a hamstring strain, Jeff Johnson of The Gazette reports.

Diaw was excellent when he played (161 wRC+), but injuries have limited his availability dating back to college. He dealt with a back fracture, broken left thumb, and a sprained writst while at Loyola Marymount University, and he missed June and July of this year due to another broken thumb. An athletic catcher with upside on both sides of the ball, Diaw slashed .297/.450/.445 with four home runs, four steals, an 11.8 percent walk rate and a 17.8 percent strikeout rate in 42 games, primarily for the Kernels. He'll likely spend most of his age-22 season at Double-A, where staying healthy will be paramount, as Diaw has been limited to 66 games since getting drafted in the third round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

  • Angels' Sebastian Rivero: Notches steal in loss

Rivero went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Brewers.

This was the first career steal for Rivero. The catcher is batting .192 with two RBI, four runs scored, two doubles and no home runs over nine games in the majors with the Angels this year, his first taste of big-league action since 2022 with the Royals. He'll compete with Logan O'Hoppe for playing time over the last three series of the season.

  • Twins' Christian Vazquez: Begins rehab assignment

Vazquez (shoulder) went 0-for-3 with two walks and a run scored in a rehab appearance with Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.

Vazquez kicked off a rehab stint Thursday, hitting second in the order while serving as the designated hitter. He'll likely need to get some reps behind the plate prior to rejoining the Twins, so he may still be a few days away from being activated off the IL.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Resting Thursday

O'Hoppe isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

O'Hoppe started Tuesday after returning from the 7-day injured list but will now take a seat for a second consecutive game Thursday while Sebastian Rivero gets the nod at catcher.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Sitting Thursday

Langeliers is not in Thursday's lineup against the Red Sox.

This will be Langeliers' first day off since Sept. 7. He's hitting .280 with one home run, nine runs, three RBI and two steals in 50 September at-bats.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Sitting out for day game

Narvaez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Athletics.

It's a routine day off for Narvaez, who started each of the last five contests (four at catcher, one at designated hitter). Connor Wong will do the catching during Thursday's matinee.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Taking seat Thursday

Kirk is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Rays.

Kirk will receive a day off after starting at catcher in each of the first two games of the series. Tyler Heineman will be behind the dish for Thursday's matinee.
