    Barnes (wrist) remains out of the lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox.

    Barnes hasn't appeared in a game for the Dodgers since taking a fastball off his right wrist Thursday. Will Smith is catching and batting third in Tuesday night's series opener against Chicago.

  • Twins' Christian Vazquez: Breather Tuesday

    Vazquez is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Brewers.

    Vazquez will take a seat after he went 0-for-7 with two strikeouts while starting twice during the Twins' three-game series with Toronto. Ryan Jeffers will draw the start behind the plate and bat sixth in the series opener with Milwaukee.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Sitting again Tuesday

    Moreno is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Phillies.

    Carson Kelly will make a second straight start at catcher for the Diamondbacks after returning Monday from the 60-day injured list. Moreno has posted a relatively underwhelming .281/.318/.366 batting line with two homers and three steals through 52 games this year.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Sitting Tuesday

    Contreras is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Twins.

    Contreras will get a breather after he went 1-for-9 while a solo homer and two runs scored while starting twice over the team's three-game series with the Athletics. Victor Caratini will catch for Corbin Burnes and bat eighth in the series opener with Minnesota.

    Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Returns from injured list

    Jansen (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

    Jansen has been on the shelf since late May with a left groin strain but is ready to roll following a couple rehab games. He had been catching more than Alejandro Kirk before getting injured but might be eased back into things.

  • Blue Jays' Tyler Heineman: Optioned to Triple-A

    Toronto optioned Heineman to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

    Danny Jansen (groin) is back from the injured list, so Heineman's presence was no longer needed. The 31-year-old catcher has gone 4-for-19 (.211) with one extra-base hit in nine major-league games this season between Pirates and Blue Jays.

    Yankees' Jose Trevino: Taking seat

    Trevino is absent from the lineup Tuesday against the Mets.

    He's now been on the bench for two of the last three contests in favor of Kyle Higashioka. Trevino hasn't had an extra-base hit since May 1.

    Red Sox's Connor Wong: Off Tuesday

    Wong isn't starting Tuesday against the Rockies, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

    After going 2-for-4 with a run scored in Monday's contest, Wong will get a day off Tuesday. Reese McGuire will take over behind the plate and bat eighth.

    Braves' Sean Murphy: Gets breather Tuesday

    Murphy is on the bench Tuesday against Detroit.

    This looks to be a routine day of rest for Murphy, who caught all 10 innings in Monday's series-opening loss. Travis d'Arnaud is catching and batting cleanup for Atlanta on Tuesday.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Goes deep again Monday

    Perez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Reds.

    Perez seems to be getting back on track with multiple hits, including a homer, in each of his last two games. Prior to his recent success, his last long ball came May 27. The catcher is slashing .275/.310/.513 with 14 homers, 37 RBI, 31 runs scored and 14 doubles through 60 contests as a fixture in the lineup. He's hit second in the last four games after batting third or fourth for much of the season.
