  • Eloy Jimenez DH | BAL

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Absent from lineup Saturday

Jimenez is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Seattle.

Jimenez will begin Saturday's game in the dugout after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's 10-0 loss to the Mariners. Gavin Sheets will serve as the designated hitter and bat second.

  • Trevor Larnach LF | MIN

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Sitting against southpaw

Larnach is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Detroit, per MLB.com.

Larnach went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-3 win over the Tigers. With Detroit sending left-hander Tarik Skubal to the mound Saturday, the lefty-hitting Larnach will cede left field to Austin Martin.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Mariners' Mitch Garver: On base five times in rout

Garver went 3-for-3 with two walks, a double, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's 10-0 win over the White Sox.

Making his first start at catcher since July 20, Garver had a perfect day at the plate and did pretty well behind it too, guiding George Kirby and the Seattle bullpen to a combined shutout. Garver had been stuck in a 2-for-29 slump in his last eight games heading into Friday, but he remains the only backup option to Cal Raleigh and is part of the mix at designated hitter despite a career-low .649 OPS on the season. Once Randy Arozarena joins the team and Julio Rodriguez (ankle) is back in action, however, there will be greater competition for those DH at-bats.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Key hit in win

Yoshida went 1-for-3 with a walk, three RBI and a run scored in Friday's 9-7 win over the Yankees.

Yoshida had the decisive blow in a wild game at Fenway Park. His eighth-inning, two-run single broke a 7-7 tie. He earlier produced a run on a sacrifice fly and scored on Ceddanne Rafaela's two-run homer in the seventh. Yoshida is batting .267/.344/.372 with four home runs, 28 RBI and 21 runs over 55 games this season.

  • Bligh Madris DH | DET

Tigers' Bligh Madris: Productive again Friday

Madris went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 9-3 loss to the Twins.

A day after collecting three hits, Madris had two more and recorded his first RBI at the MLB level since 2022. The 28-year-old is likely still just a depth option for the Tigers at best, but he could carve out a more consistent role in the short term if he continues to produce at the plate.

  • Trevor Larnach LF | MIN

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Smacks 11th homer

Larnach went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Friday's 9-3 win over the Tigers.

Larnach went back-to-back with Byron Buxton in the first inning, the seventh time the Twins have hit consecutive homers this season. Larnach has three home runs in his last 11 games, but the 27-year-old is strictly a platoon player, as he only has eight at-bats against lefties this season. He's been solid in his role however, with 11 homers and a .770 OPS against right-handers.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Hoping to return Monday

Stanton (hamstring) is aiming to return for Monday's series opener against the Phillies, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Stanton has been on the injured list since June 23 due to a left hamstring strain. He hasn't been sent on a rehab assignment, but the 34-year-old slugger still appears poised to join the Yankees following a weekend series against the Red Sox. Stanton was slashing .304/.377/.551 with five home runs and 16 RBI in June before going on the IL.

  • Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Logs two hits as DH

Grossman started at designated hitter and went 2-for-4 in Thursday's 2-1 win over the White Sox.

Grossman got the start at DH, which has been a revolving door for the Rangers in 2024. Justin Foscue was given a four-game run after being called up last weekend, but he went 1-for-13 with seven strikeouts and hasn't been seen since Tuesday. It's been Grossman and Travis Jankowski the last two days. Eventually, when third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) is ready to return, Josh Smith will likely settle in as the primary DH.

  • Bligh Madris DH | DET

Tigers' Bligh Madris: Tallies first hits of 2024

Madris went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Guardians.

Madris was just recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, and after going hitless in his first six at-bats with the Tigers, he broke out Thursday. The 28-year-old appeared in 51 total games over the previous two seasons with the Pirates and Astros, offering little fantasy production in the process. He is unlikely to be much more than a depth option for Detroit.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Not expected back this weekend

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday he's not expecting Stanton (hamstring) to return to action for the team's series versus Boston this weekend, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Stanton continued to do work on the field Wednesday, and Boone said he thinks the slugger is "towards the end of" his rehab. However, while the manager didn't rule out Stanton being activated at some point this weekend to face the Red Sox, he also indicated that such a scenario is not an expectation. It doesn't appear that Stanton has experienced a setback, so he seems likely to return to action next week if he remains out for the Boston series.
