  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Back in lineup

Cabrera (knee) returns to the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Cabrera has battled a chronic knee issue throughout the season, as he's expected to do for the remainder of his career. He's back in action following a three-game absence Wednesday, batting third as the designated hitter.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Day off Wednesday

Jimenez will sit Wednesday against Cleveland.

Jimenez went hitless Tuesday, ending a 13-game hitting streak in which he'd posted a .411/.450/.839 slash line. Leury Garcia slides to left field in his absence, with Daniel Palka starting in right.

  • Mariners' Daniel Vogelbach: Walks in return to lineup

Vogelbach (neck) went 0-for-2 with a walk in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday.

Vogelbach had sat out the series finale versus the Orioles on Sunday with neck soreness, but he was well enough to serve as the designated hitter Tuesday. The slugger remains mired in a 1-for-16 slump that's encompassed his last five games, and he's now gone without an extra-base hit in 12 of his last 13 contests overall.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Socks game-winning blast in extras

Choi went 1-for-4 with a game-winning solo home run and a walk in an extra-innings victory over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Choi's 18th blast of the season, which led off the 12th inning against Cory Gearrin, sent the Rays home winners in a key victory in their Wild Card quest. Choi has left the yard in consecutive games and now has 13 RBI on 13 hits in September, despite producing a pedestrian .217 average overall during the month.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Delivers three RBI in win

Martinez went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 12-10 win over the Rangers.

Martinez produced a run-scoring single in his first at-bat of the day before coming around to score in what was a four-run first inning for the Red Sox. He drove in two more runs with another single in the fifth inning, marking his fifth and sixth RBI over the past three games. Martinez is 6-for-13 (.462) with three runs scored and a 2:3 BB:K over that stretch.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

    Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Sitting Tuesday

Alvarez is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Mariners, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

He is hitting .348 with six home runs, nine walks and 18 strikeouts in 18 games this month. Michael Brantley starts at designated hitter while Kyle Tucker starts in left field.

  • Mariners' Daniel Vogelbach: Back in lineup

Vogelbach (neck) is starting at DH and hitting seventh Tuesday against the Astros, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Vogelbach sat out Sunday's series finale against the Orioles due to a sore neck, but he's been cleared to return following Monday's off day. The 26-year-old is hitting just .178 with a 12:18 BB:K through 17 games this month.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Expected back Wednesday

Cabrera (knee) is expected to rejoin the starting lineup Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Cabrera is out for a third straight game Tuesday, though he's set to take batting practice to test out the issue before hopefully returning to action Wednesday. There are no plans to shut the veteran slugger down. Cabrera is expected to see a specialist following the season, per McCosky, and while surgery doesn't appear to be an option, Cabrera expected to be given some sort of treatment plan.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Key homer in win

Choi went 2-for-4 with a double, a three-run home run and two runs overall in a win over the Red Sox on Monday.

Choi's 412-foot shot to center in the fourth with Austin Meadows and Travis d'Arnaud aboard put a significant dent into a 4-0 deficit. The Korean slugger is hitting just .214 in September, but he's remained a viable contributor with 14 walks and eight extra-base hits (out of 12 total), the latter helping lead to an impressive 12 RBI during the month.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Sits again Tuesday

Cabrera (knee) will sit Tuesday against the Twins.

Cabrera finds himself on the bench for the third straight game as he deals with his latest bout with knee soreness. Brandon Dixon will be the designated hitter in his absence.
