Cespedes (quad) is in the lineup Monday against the Reds, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Cespedes left Sunday's game against the Rockies with a quad issue, which he had apparently suffered the day before. The issue was evidently minor, though, as he won't end up missing a game. It's the second time in eight days that he left with an injury only to start in the team's next game after leaving with what turned out to be a minor thumb issue the previous Sunday. He's doing little to shed the injury-prone label, though he's started in all but one game for the Mets so far this season.

Reyes has eight homers in his last five games for Triple-A El Paso.

Reyes went unprotected in the Rule 5 draft but was not selected, primarily due to the broken hamate bone he suffered at the Arizona Fall League. He's making teams regret passing on him so far this season, hitting .339/.419/.750 with 13 homers. Like many young slugging prospects, Reyes definitely has power but there are concerns about whether or not he'll hit enough to get to that power. He's certainly done all he can to address those concerns so far this season. Perhaps the bigger issue at this point is how he fits with the big club defensively, as he is a mediocre defender in an outfield corner, and the Padres already have one of those in Wil Myers, although he is on the DL with an oblique injury.

Buxton (toe) didn't do any running Sunday and is uncertain if he'll need to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the 10-day disabled list, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

For the second straight day, Buxton didn't do any running and instead just hit in the batting cage, but the Twins haven't indicated that the lack of on-field activity amounts to a setback for the outfielder. The Twins may just be taking a cautious approach with Buxton, who did some light running Friday and should increase the intensity of his workouts this week. Buxton's last game action came April 22 with High-A Fort Myers before he was temporarily shut down due to the toe issue, so it would seem more likely than not that the Twins would have the 24-year-old restart his rehab assignment before adding him back to the active roster. Expect the Twins to make an official decision on Buxton's next step within the next couple of days.

Jimenez has six straight multi-hit games for Double-A Birmingham.

Through 16 games, Jimenez is hitting .303/.324/.591. He's also cut his strikeout rate to 16.9 percent. Continued dominance at the Double-A level could see the young outfielder promoted to Triple-A soon. Even though he will likely be ready for the majors at some point this season, the White Sox could elect to leave him in the minors until mid April next season in order to gain an extra year of team control.

Ohtani (3-1) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks across six-plus innings while earning the win Sunday against the Mariners. He struck out six.

Ohtani was excellent through the early going, finishing six scoreless frames while allowing just one man past first base. He got into some trouble in the seventh, however, allowing the leadoff man to reach before Ryon Healy tagged him with a two-run home run and a walk forced Ohtani out of the game. Nevertheless, it was Ohtani's first quality start in nearly a month, and he lowered his ERA to 4.10. His next start should come next Sunday against the Twins.

Martinez went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, one RBI and one walk during Sunday's 6-1 win over the Rangers.

Martinez continues to swing a hot bat at the dish, as he slugged his eighth home run of the season Sunday. He's slashing .349/.396/.619 with 27 RBI and 17 extra-base hits through 32 games this season. The 30-year-old will look to keep it rolling as the Red Sox begin a three-game showdown with the Yankees on Tuesday.

Cespedes clarified after departing Sunday's game against the Reds that it was a right quadriceps injury rather than a tight right hip that resulted in his early removal, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.

Cespedes noted he first experienced the injury during Saturday's game but played through the issue before feeling his quad bother him again Sunday. He labeled his removal as precautionary, though he wasn't certain if he would be ready to play in Monday's series opener in Cincinnati. If Cespedes is forced to miss time, Brandon Nimmo would likely be the primary beneficiary of increased at-bats.

Carpenter is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cubs, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

With Carpenter receiving off for the series finale following six consecutive starts, Jedd Gyorko will man third base and bat fifth Sunday. After bypassing shoulder surgery over the offseason and addressing the injury through rest and rehab, Carpenter has struggled to regain his usual form through the first month and change of the regular season, limping to a .165/.320/.320 slash line through his first 122 plate appearances.

Pederson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

For the third time in four days, the Dodgers are opposing a lefty starting pitcher, so Pederson will head to the bench as manager Dave Roberts stocks the lineup with right-handed hitters. Tim Locastro will pick up the start in center field in Pederson's place.
