Cabrera (oblique) will take some swings Friday with the hope of getting back in the lineup Saturday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera is still out of the starting lineup, but it seems like he's on the verge of rejoining the team. Details on how his side session went should emerge sometime in the next 24 hours, but his status for Saturday's game remains up in the air.

Miller (abdomen) has no timetable for a return to baseball activities but still aims to be ready to be activated from the disabled list when he's first eligible, Marc Topkin of Tampa Bay Times reports.

Miller landed on the DL on Thursday, and although his recovery plan is still murky at best, he seems to be confident that the issue isn't too serious. Things should clear up as his return date nears, but for the time being, it seems like a major injury has been avoided.

Cabrera (oblique) is not in the lineup Friday against the Rangers.

This marks the third day in a row that the star slugger will miss due to an oblique strain, which aligns with the original two-to-three day timetable offered by the team. Cabrera could return for Saturday's contest, but Alex Avila will fill in at first base for the time being.

Ramirez is starting to pick up his play after a slow start, hitting safely in seven of the last eight games while notching seven RBI for Double-A New Hampshire.

The outfielder tore up Double-A pitching in the Pirates organization last year, slashing .306/.354/.401 over 98 games. However, Ramirez hasn't exactly provided the expected return on investment that the Jays hoped for when trading for him in August. The 22-year-old's .216/.264/.363 line over 102 at-bats in New Hampshire suggests Ramirez has quite a few hurdles to jump before he's ready for MLB.

McCutchen went 2-for-5 with a double against Washington on Thursday.

He's strung together back-to-back multi-hit games and after stealing six bases last season, McCutchen has swiped three bags in his last four games. Still, the outfielder expressed dissatisfaction in his overall play, blaming himself for manager Clint Hurdle's decision to remove him Wednesday as part of a double switch. McCutchen is batting just .176/.231/.269 in 108 at-bats against right-handed pitching, well below his career mark of .282/.371/.465. The 30-year-old will likely continue to struggle until he can find his game against righties.

Colon got the start at third base Thursday with left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu on the mound for the Dodgers, going 0-for-2 before being replaced by Derek Dietrich.

It looks like Colon will be platooning at third with Dietrich while Martin Prado (hamstring) is on the DL. The former Royal is just 3-for-19 on the season and is still looking for his first extra-base hit, but with a steady (if small) role on the Marlins he could begin to get comfortable at the plate.

Turner will undergo an MRI on his right hamstring Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said he's "holding out hope" that Turner will avoid the disabled list, but hamstring issues can be tricky. Turner likely won't play Friday as they await the results. Chris Taylor is a candidate to fill in at third base while the vet rests.

Turner exited Thursday's game against the Marlins with an apparent right hamstring injury, J.P. Hoonstra of the Southern California News Group reports.

He suffered the injury rounding third on a Yasmani Grandal base hit to left field and immediately grabbed at the back of his right leg. Turner slowly limped off the field and went straight back to the clubhouse with team trainers. Chris Taylor, who replaced Turner at third base, could be an option to fill in at the hot corner should Turner miss additional time. The Dodgers figure to provide an update on Turner's status late Thursday or early Friday.

Martinez went 1-for-1 with a three-run home run, three walks and two runs during Thursday's win over Baltimore.

With five bombs, 11 RBI, seven runs and a .500/.680/1.438 slash line through six games since returning from a foot injury, Martinez is making up for lost time in a hurry. The 29-year-old outfielder has been a fantasy star since joining the Tigers in 2014, and there is no reason to expect anything different going forward.

Miller has been out since Tuesday with the ailment, and it seems to be bad enough to warrant a trip to the DL. It's unclear if the team anticipates him missing more than the minimum 10 days at this time, but more information should come forth once he gets back to baseball activities. No corresponding move has been made to fill his spot on the roster yet, but look for Daniel Robertson to pick up more innings at the keystone in his stead.
