Bryce Harper DH | PHI
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Willing to move back to OF if asked
Harper said recently that he would be willing to move back to right field if the Phillies were able to acquire an impact first baseman at the trade deadline, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reported this week that Harper told the Phillies over the offseason he would be open to shifting to the outfield if the club could acquire a marquee first baseman. That never came close to happening, but the offer remains on the table should an opportunity present itself. Harper has turned himself into an excellent defensive first baseman and will, in all likelihood, remain at that position over the long haul, but having the flexibility and willingness to move back to right field could come in handy, both for the Phillies and for anyone with fantasy shares in the 32-year-old star.

Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Set to DH more
The Astros plan to rarely use Alvarez in left field this season, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Alvarez played 53 games in left field in 2024, a number that manager Joe Espada wants to reduce in 2025. That plan has been made clear by the likely shift of Jose Altuve into left field, though there are still question marks with Jake Meyers and Chas McCormick in center and right field, respectively. Espada's hand could be forced if that duo underperforms again, but Alvarez's lengthy history of knee injuries is clearly on the mind of the team.

Luken Baker DH | ARI
Cardinals' Luken Baker: Showing increased bat speed
Baker has shown increased bat speed this spring and has hit a team-leading three home runs in 11 Grapefruit League games, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Baker made it a point over the offseason to increase his bat speed, and it sits at 79 mph this spring, up 5.1 mph over his 73.9 mph average from 2024. The 79 mph average would have ranked second in all of baseball last season, behind only Giancarlo Stanton (81.2 mph). Baker should open the season as a starter versus left-handed pitching, being used both at designated hitter and first base. If he can carry over the increased bat speed into the season, it's possible he works his way into some playing time against righties.

Joc Pederson DH | TEX
Rangers' Joc Pederson: Goes deep again
Pederson started at first base and went 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's Cactus League game against Cincinnati.
Pederson walloped a three-run homer in the first inning. It was his third of the Cactus League and second driven to the opposite field. Pederson is expected to mostly see time at DH in 2025, but he'll get opportunities to fill in for Jake Burger at first base.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Mariners' Mitch Garver: Hoping to take swings soon
Garver said Wednesday that his hand/wrist feels about 80 percent healed, and he hopes to take some swings within the next few days, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
X-rays on Garver's hand/wrist came back negative after he exited a Cactus League contest Monday when he was hit by a pitch, but he's dealing with some bruising and swelling and will miss a few games. As long as the issue doesn't linger, he'll be fine for Opening Day. Garver has three home runs and a 1.420 OPS this spring and is in line for significant playing time at designated hitter for the Mariners.

Willie Calhoun DH | LAA
Willie Calhoun: Signs in Mexican League
Calhoun signed a contract with the Tigres de Quintana Roo of the Mexican League on Tuesday.
Calhoun appeared in 64 games last season for the Angels, slashing .245/.315/.380 across 254 plate appearances. He elected free agency at the end of the year and will now begin the 2025 campaign in Mexico after not receiving any MLB offers.

Luis Torrens DH | NYM
Mets' Luis Torrens: Smacks first spring homer
Torrens went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
The 28-year-old took Sonny Gray deep the other way in the second inning for his first long ball of the spring. Torrens is set to open the season as the Mets' starting catcher with Francisco Alvarez (hand) on the shelf until at least late April, but there's little reason to expect him to make an impact with regular playing time -- his .229/.292/.373 slash line over 130 regular-season plate appearances in 2024 was very similar to his .227/.289/.356 career line.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Mariners' Mitch Garver: X-rays return negative
Garver had X-rays on his hand/wrist come back negative Tuesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
The 34-year-old was hit by a pitch during his second plate appearance Tuesday and appears to have avoided a serious injury, though he'll be further evaluated Wednesday to see whether a CT scan is necessary. Garver should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Mariners' Mitch Garver: Awaiting X-ray results on hand
The Mariners are awaiting X-ray results on Garver's hand/wrist after he had to exit Monday's Cactus League game versus the Brewers following a hit-by-pitch, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Garver homered in his first plate appearance Monday before getting plunked in his second trip to the dish, forcing his exit from the contest. He's gone deep three times and posted a 1.420 OPS this spring, and, if healthy, could open the season as Seattle's primary designated hitter. The Mariners should have more information on Garver's condition later Tuesday.

Jacob Nottingham DH | SEA
Mariners' Jacob Nottingham: Sent out of big-league camp
The Mariners reassigned Nottingham to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.
Though he was given the chance to compete for a backup catcher job with Seattle in spring training, Nottingham never had strong odds of breaking camp with the big club so long as Cal Raleigh and Mitch Garver stayed healthy heading into Opening Day. Nottingham hasn't seen big-league action since 2021 and is likely to serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Tacoma throughout the upcoming season.
