Ohtani (back) is serving as the designated hitter and batting second in Monday's game against the Giants.

Ohtani sat out Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Padres after leaving Saturday's game due to back tightness. The day off seems to have done the trick, and Ohtani is back in action for Monday's series opener. Ohtani has gone 12-for-28 with eight runs, four stolen bases, four home runs and eight RBI in May.

Langford (hamstring) said Monday that he's now able to run at about 85-to-90 percent speed, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Langford also added that he began swinging a bat this past Friday. The next step for the rookie will be to incorporate more explosive running to test out his strained right hamstring. Langford is one week into a projected 3-to-4-week recovery timeline, so his return from the 10-day injured list isn't imminent.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Turner is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles due to an illness, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Turner's absence from the lineup for Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Twins was believed to be for maintenance purposes while he was in the midst of a 1-for-22 slump at the plate over his previous five starts, but he's apparently a victim of the bug that seems to be making its way around the Toronto clubhouse. He'll be on the bench for a second straight day Monday, while George Springer and Kevin Kiermaier are out of the lineup for the third and fourth time, respectively, in the four games due to illnesses of their own.

Turner is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

After going 1-for-22 over his last five starts to bring his season average down to .250, Turner will end up getting two days off to take a mental reset. Daniel Vogelbach will make a second straight start as the Blue Jays' designated hitter while Turner rests.

Schwarber (back) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Schwarber is on the bench for a third straight game due to lower-back soreness, but the 31-year-old is holding out hope for returning to the lineup for the Phillies' final game at Citi Field on Tuesday before the four-game series with the Mets shifts back to Philadelphia. With Schwarber out of the starting nine, Nick Castellanos will get a day out of the outfield and will serve as the Phillies' designated hitter.

Stewart went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's win over Atlanta.

Getting the start in left field with Brandon Nimmo nursing an intercostal issue, Stewart did a credible job as the leadoff hitter. Nimmo wound up pinch hitting a slugging a walk-off homer in the ninth inning however, so the assignment for Stewart was purely a short-term one. The 30-year-old has played well enough to keep a bench job even after J.D. Martinez joined the big-league roster, and Stewart sports a .206/.389/.426 slash line on the season with four homers and 16 RBI in 90 plate appearances.

Garver went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk and three RBI in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Athletics.

Garver extended the Mariners' lead with a two-run blast in the fifth and also got things rolling for the M's with an RBI single in the opening frame. The two hits ended a mini three-game slump for the 33-year-old, though he's still been hitting well in May, slashing .300/.405/.567 with two homers, six RBI and five runs over his last eight games.

Calhoun went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Royals.

Calhoun was responsible for both of the Angels' runs in the game. The homer was his first with the team, and he's up to three RBI, six runs scored and a .333/.361/.606 slash line over 36 plate appearances since he was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake at the start of May. That productivity has helped him carve out a role as the Angels' primary designated hitter, though it's unlikely he'll be able to sustain his production in the long run.

Ford went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Giants.

Ford's homer tied the game at 5-5 in the eighth inning. The 31-year-old has gone 2-for-15 with a walk and two strikeouts over five games since he re-signed with the Reds on May 8 following his release from the organization May 4. Ford slashed .228/.323/.475 with 16 homers and 34 RBI over 84 contests with the Mariners last season, so he may have some power upside if he can claim a regular role.

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Jose Ramirez is getting a day out of the infield and is serving as the Guardians' designated hitter in the series finale, leaving no room in the lineup for Manzardo. Since getting called up from Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Manzardo is off to an unremarkable start to his big-league career, going 3-for-17 with a double and seven strikeouts through seven games.
