  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

    Giants' Joc Pederson: Resting Saturday

Pederson will be on the bench Saturday against the Twins, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

It's surprising to see Pederson on the bench despite the fact that righty Sonny Gray will be on the mound for Minnesota. All five of Pederson's previous absences against righties this season occurred due to injury, so it's possible he's dealing with at least a minor issue. Luis Gonzalez will get the start in left field.

  • Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: Sits against southpaw

Vogelbach will be on the bench Saturday against the Rockies.

Vogelbach's off day Friday against righty Chad Kuhl was unusual, though his off day here against lefty Kyle Freeland was to be expected. Darin Ruf will be the designated hitter in his place.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rangers' Brad Miller: Still on bench Saturday

Miller isn't starting Saturday against Detroit.

Miller appears to have lost his job as the Rangers' primary designated hitter, and he'll be on the bench for a fourth consecutive matchup. Mark Mathias is serving as the DH and batting seventh.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Good to go as designated hitter

Jimenez (leg) will bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Jimenez left Friday's series opener with a right leg injury, though the White Sox downplayed the issue after the game. Jimenez will indeed return to action without missing a start, though he won't be asked to play the field.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Sits against southpaw

Choi isn't starting Saturday against Boston, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Choi went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and two strikeouts Friday, but he'll get a breather with left-hander Rich Hill on the mound Saturday. Harold Ramirez is starting at first base and batting cleanup.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Slugs ninth homer

Choi went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday against the Red Sox.

Choi took Michael Wacha yard in the second inning to tally his ninth homer of the season. It was Choi's first home run since July 27, and in 18 games between long balls, he hit just .109 with a 35.9 percent strikeout rate. Despite his struggles, Choi continues to get regular at-bats against right-handed pitchers.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

    Mariners' Jesse Winker: Ejected Friday

Winker was ejected from Friday's game against the Guardians at the end of the eighth inning for arguing balls and strikes, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Winker struck out on a called third strike to end the eighth and exchanged words with the umpire before being tossed from the matchup. Prior to his ejection, he went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts. It seems unlikely that the incident will lead to a suspension, so he should be available for Saturday's game against Cleveland.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Mets' Mark Canha: Drives in three

Canha went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI in Friday's 7-6 win over Colorado.

Canha ripped an RBI double in the sixth inning followed by a two-run double in the eighth. He was also hit by a pitch for the 16th time this season. Over his last 11 games, Canha has gone 14-for-34 (.412) with 10 extra-base hits and 12 RBI. He's slashing .277/.377/.417 with 50 RBI and 54 runs scored on the year.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Dealing with right leg injury

Jimenez exited Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks due to a right leg issue, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Jimenez went 1-for-1 with a run and two walks to begin Friday's matchup, but he was replaced defensively in the top of the ninth inning. Manager Tony La Russa didn't sound too concerned about Jimenez's injury after the game and said that the 25-year-old has dealt with a similar issue a few times following his surgery. Jimenez should be considered day-to-day for now.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Drives in two runs

Harper went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in Friday's 7-4 win over the Pirates.

Harper ripped a two-run single as part of the Phillies' four-run first inning. It was his first game in two months since a lengthy stint on the injured list with a thumb injury. He's now slashing .317/.384/.593 with 50 RBI and 37 extra-base hits through 65 games on the year.
