Alvarez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in a 4-2 loss to the Athletics on Wednesday.

Alvarez turned on a 90 mph fastball that Cole Irvin left on the inner half of the plate for his 29th home run and 67th RBI of the season. The line drive blast was complemented by two walks and Alvarez now has a .413 OBP to go along with a .674 SLG. The elite 25-year-old slugger has reached base in seven straight games.

Choi went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run Wednesday against the Orioles.

Choi took Tyler Wells yard in the opening inning to record his eighth home run of the season. He continues to have a regular role against right-handed pitching but has managed only a .224/.325/.358 line across 77 plate appearances in July. Overall, Choi has maintained a 134 wRC+ and .351 wOBA in 279 plate appearances for the season.

Carpenter will start in right field and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Mets.

He'll man right field for the fourth game in a row and should serve as the primary option at the position following Giancarlo Stanton's (Achilles) placement on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Carpenter has been cold out of the All-Star break with a 2-for-18 showing at the plate, but he's still holding down a monstrous 1.221 OPS through 118 plate appearances on the season.

Ruf is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Ruf went 2-for-14 with a home run and three walks while starting in each of the past five games, but he benefited from the Giants opposing four left-handed pitchers during that stretch. Right-hander Zac Gallen is on the bump for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, and Ruf now appears likely to settle into a short-side platoon role at either first base, left field or designated hitter moving forward.

Mercedes is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks and right-handed starting pitcher Zac Gallen, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Mercedes will be on the bench for the series finale after he started in four of the Giants' first six games out of the All-Star break while going 3-for-14 with two doubles, two walks and two runs and an RBI. With the lefty-hitting Tommy La Stella (illness) returning from the COVID-19-related injured list Tuesday, the righty-hitting Mercedes may have to settle for a short-side platoon role at designated hitter or in left field moving forward.

Lewis went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday, extending his second-half on-base streak to five games.

Lewis is still on the hunt for his first extra-base hit since returning from an extended injured-list stint due to a concussion, but he's at least managed to be a constant presence on the basepaths since returning to action. The 27-year-old outfielder's talent and powerful bat will undoubtedly rectify the lack of impactful hits eventually, but for the time being, Lewis is at least tiding fantasy managers over after his prolonged absence.

Solak is starting at designated hitter and batting eighth Wednesday versus the Mariners.

Solak will start for the first time since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on July 17. The 27-year-old has fallen out of favor with the Rangers in 2022, producing a .200 average with two homers, three RBI and 11 runs over 70 at-bats in 28 games.

Jimenez isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.

Jimenez started four of the last five games and went 5-for-15 with two homers, three runs, two RBI and two strikeouts. AJ Pollock is starting in left field and batting third.

Turner (abdomen) is starting Wednesday against the Nationals, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.

Turner missed the last five games due to an abdominal issue, but he'll start at the hot corner and bat fifth during Wednesday's series finale against the Nationals. Over his last seven games, the 37-year-old has hit .375 with two doubles, eight RBI and four runs.

Buxton (knee) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Brewers.

After getting an injection for his lingering right knee injury following his appearance in the All-Star Game last week, Buxton was cleared to make his second-half debut Tuesday. In addition to occupying his usual spot in center field, Buxton was in top form at the plate, adding two extra-base hits to his ledger. According to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Buxton will serve as the Twins' designated hitter and No. 3 batter in Wednesday's series finale with Milwaukee, but the 28-year-old isn't believed to have suffered any sort of setback with the knee.
