Blue Jays' Adam Cimber: Yet to resume throwing

Cimber (shoulder) has yet to resume throwing, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Cimber was placed on the injured list June 24 with a right shoulder impingement, which actually turned out to be a rhomboid strain. He could remain on the shelf through much or all of July.

  • Caleb Thielbar RP | CHC

Twins' Caleb Thielbar: Throws off mound

Thielbar (oblique) threw a bullpen session Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Thielbar threw 16 pitches during his session with a velocity of roughly 85 mph. He said afterwards that he was pleased with his performance, though there is still quite a bit of work yet to be done. Thielbar has been on the shelf since June 9 and is expected to return shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Jose Rodriguez RP | SEA

Mariners' Jose Rodriguez: Outrighted to Triple-A

Rodriguez was outrighted Friday to Triple-A Tacoma, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Rodriguez had a one-appearance stint with the Mariners earlier this season in which he surrendered three earned runs over three innings of relief. The 27-year-old right-hander is off the 40-man roster but will remain part of the organization.

  • John King RP | MIA

Rangers' John King: Back in minors

The Rangers optioned King to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

King was brought up to the majors Tuesday while Andrew Heaney was on paternity leave. Now that Heaney is back with the team, King will return to Round Rock after making two shutout appearances.

  • Kaleb Ort RP | LAA

Red Sox's Kaleb Ort: Placed on injured list

The Red Sox placed Ort on the 15-day injured list Friday with right elbow inflammation, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Ort's placement on the IL frees up a spot for James Paxton to return from paternity leave. Ort holds a 6.26 ERA and 1.57 WHIP through 23 innings this season and will be eligible to return July 22.

  • Sam Long RP | KC

    Athletics' Sam Long: Opening Friday

Long will serve as the Athletics' opener Friday in Boston, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Right-hander Luis Medina is set to handle the bulk of the innings for the A's, but it will be the southpaw Long first out of the chute. Left-handed batters are hitting only .200/.293/.314 off Long this season.

  • Angel Felipe RP | LAA

Athletics' Angel Felipe: Recalled from Triple-A

Felipe was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Felipe was claimed off waivers from the Padres last month. The 25-year-old has put up a 5.46 ERA and 46:19 K:BB over 29.2 innings at the Triple-A level in 2023. He'll be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.

  • Rico Garcia RP | BAL

Athletics' Rico Garcia: Designated for assignment

Garcia was designated for assignment Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Garcia has put up an 8.31 ERA over seven relief appearances during his time in the majors this season. The 29-year-old would appear to have a good chance of clearing waivers.

  • Jose Lopez RP | TB

Rays' Jose Lopez: Dropped from 40-man roster

Lopez was designated for assignment Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Rays needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the addition of Elvin Rodriguez. Lopez had made one appearance for the Rays this season and has struggled at Triple-A Durham, but his gaudy strikeout totals in the minors could draw interest on waivers.

  • Jay Jackson RP | MIN

Blue Jays' Jay Jackson: Goes to paternity list

Jackson was placed on the paternity list Friday.

Jackson will be away from the team for its final three contests prior to the All-Star break as he spends time with his growing family. Alek Manoah was called up from Double-A New Hampshire and will replace Jackson on the major-league roster.
