Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Monday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Hernandez was recalled by the Royals on Sunday, but he will head back to Omaha one day later to open up a roster spot for fellow pitcher Daniel Lynch.

Johnson, who is about to undergo Tommy John surgery, was traded from the Rays to the Orioles on Monday as part of a three-team trade that sent Jose Siri to Tampa Bay and Trey Mancini to Houston, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Johnson was a very promising pitching prospect prior to suffering a torn UCL. He has premium stuff and logged a 3.00 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 27 innings at High-A this year. Given that he turns 24 in September and might not return to action until the 2024 season, it's possible the Orioles could convert him to a reliever in the coming years to fast-track him to the majors.

Quijada (0-3) took the loss against Texas on Sunday, allowing three runs on one hit and two walks while striking out one batter over one-third of an inning.

The game was tied 2-2 when Quijada entered in the ninth-inning, but the left-hander was unable to keep things that way. He threw only six of 17 pitches for strikes and loaded the bases before being pulled with one out, and he was tagged with the loss when Raisel Iglesias subsequently surrendered a bases-clearing double. Quijada had been pitching well coming into the contest, allowing only one run over 7.1 innings across his previous seven appearances in July.

Trivino and Frankie Montas were traded from the A's to the Yankees on Monday, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

It remains to be seen who is headed to Oakland in exchange for the two pitchers, but Trivino is set to finish the campaign with the Yankees. Southpaw A.J. Puk and righty Zach Jackson are arguably the best healthy options remaining on the Oakland depth chart, though Dany Jimenez (shoulder) also appears close to rejoining the active roster.

The Mariners optioned Bernardino to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Bernardino was moved off the 26-man active roster to clear a spot for newly acquired right-hander Luis Castillo, who reported to the Mariners on Monday. A 30-year-old journeyman southpaw, Bernardino received his first call to the big leagues over the weekend after turning in an 0.79 ERA and striking out 17 over 11.1 innings at Tacoma. He made his MLB debut in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Astros, taking the loss in the 10th inning after allowing an unearned run.

The Twinsn="Minnesota Twins" data-type="SPORTS_OBJECT_TEAM" data-league-abbreviation="MLB" data-team-abbreviation="MIN">Twins optioned Cano to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Cano was sent back to the minors to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for third baseman Gio Urshela (personal), who was reinstated from the paternity list. The 28-year-old right-hander was up with the big club for just over a week and gave up two earned runs over his lone two-inning appearance out of the bullpen.

The Royals acquired Misiewicz from the Mariners on Monday in exchange for cash considerations. He was optioned to Triple-A Omaha.

Though he won't be joining the big club as he changes organization, Misiewicz will recapture a 40-man roster spot after Seattle designated him for assignment over the weekend. The 27-year-old southpaw owns a 4.48 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 88.1 innings over parts of three seasons in the majors.

The Rays acquired Cleavinger from the Dodgers on Monday in exchange for minor-league outfielder German Tapia, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Cleavinger, a 28-year-old lefty reliever has made four appearances for the Dodgers this season but has otherwise spent most of the campaign at Triple-A Oklahoma City, with whom he's generated a 2.79 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 47:17 K:BB across 29 innings. The Rays could give him a look out of their bullpen at some point in the second half, but for the time being, he'll report to Triple-A Durham with his new organization.

The Yankees acquired Effross from the Cubs on Monday, according to Jack Curry of YES Network. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that right-hander Hayden Wesneski will head to Chicago to complete the deal.

The 28-year-old right-hander has shined in his first full season in the majors, posting a 2.66 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB over 44 innings out of the Chicago bullpen while holding left-handed hitters to a .132 average. Though he was viewed as the next man up to save games for the Cubs had the team moved closer David Robertson ahead of the deadline, Chicago instead elected to cash out its top setup man in favor of a highly regarded starting pitching prospect in Wesneski. Though Effross likely won't have a path to closing in New York while Clay Holmes and Aroldis Chapman are ahead of him in the pecking order, he's under club control through the 2027 season and should bring some needed stability to the setup ranks in the wake of Michael King's (elbow) season-ending injury.

Bautista (3-3) allowed a run on one hit and one walk while striking out one in one inning, taking the loss Sunday versus the Reds.

Bautista wasn't able to extend his scoreless streak into August, and he instead saw it snapped at 8.2 innings. Brandon Drury took him deep for a solo home run in the eighth inning. This was Bautista's first loss since June 15, as he continues to be an effective part of the Orioles' bullpen. He owns a 1.66 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 57:15 K:BB across 43.1 innings while picking up three saves, 13 holds and one blown save in 45 appearances.
