Vest earned the save against the Cubs on Friday, allowing one hit across 1.1 scoreless innings.

Vest took over for Tarik Skubal in the eighth inning and needed 21 pitches to secure a four-out save. The 30-year-old has opened June with 4.1 scoreless frames after allowing runs in back-to-back outings to close May. On the season, he's 10-for-12 in save chances with a stellar 1.72 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB across 31.1 innings.

    Tigers' Tyler Holton: Opening Saturday

Holton will serve as the Tigers' opener for Saturday's game against the Cubs, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Holton has already opened a game once this season, giving up one run in 1.2 innings against the Red Sox on May 13. He'll now be called upon again to open Saturday's contest before handing things over to Keider Montero.

  • Josh Hader RP | HOU

Astros' Josh Hader: Converts 17th save

Hader earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Guardians, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Hader was called upon to protect a two-run lead in the ninth and needed just 12 pitches to do so. The southpaw has now gone eight straight outings without allowing a run and has held opponents scoreless in 22 of his 25 appearances this season. He's a perfect 17-for-17 in save opportunities with a 1.33 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 41:6 K:BB across 27 innings.

  • Ryan Burr RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Ryan Burr: Playing catch

Burr (shoulder) has resumed playing catch, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reported Friday.

Burr had a cortisone injection in his right shoulder May 29 and has resumed playing catch after being shut down from throwing for a stretch. The 31-year-old hasn't made his 2025 MLB debut.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Begins throwing

Garcia (shoulder) has resumed playing catch, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reported Friday.

Garcia received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder May 26, and after a brief shutdown, he's started playing catch. Garcia is recovering from a shoulder impingement and logged a 3.15 ERA with a 24:10 K:BB over 20 innings prior to suffering the injury.

  • Luke Weaver SP | NYM

Yankees' Luke Weaver: Gets PRP injection

Weaver received a PRP injection in his left hamstring and has resumed a throwing program, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Weaver was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday and was given a 4-to-6 week return timeline. However, he's already back to throwing and received a PRP injection, which is encouraging for his recovery.

  • Guardians' Andrew Walters: Shifted to 60-day IL

The Guardians transferred Walters (lat) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Walters initially landed on the injured list Saturday due to a significant right lat strain, and his move to the 60-day IL will ensure he remains out until at least late July. While he recovers, the Guardians will strip him of his 40-man roster spot and give it to Dom Nunez, who was selected from Triple-A on Friday.

  • Scott Blewett RP | STL

Orioles' Scott Blewett: Shipped back to O's

Baltimore acquired Blewett from Atlanta on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.

The right-hander was set to be designated for assignment by Atlanta after giving up five earned runs over 1.1 innings Thursday versus Arizona, but he'll instead be sent to the Orioles. Even with that ugly performance, Blewett has a 3.91 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB across 25.1 innings this season. He appeared in two games for the Orioles in April before being dealt to Atlanta.

  • Twins' Kody Funderburk: Sent to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Funderburk to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Funderburk made seven appearances during his latest big-league stint but posted a poor 9.00 ERA and a 4:4 K:BB over eight innings. His spot on the 26-man roster will go to Travis Adams, who can provide the Twins' pitching staff with more length.

  • Travis Adams P | MIN

Twins' Travis Adams: Officially brought up

The Twins recalled Adams from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Adams has tallied a 3.43 ERA and a 37:10 K:BB over 42 innings mainly as a bulk reliever with St. Paul, and he'll join the big-league club Friday. With Pablo Lopez (shoulder) on the IL and David Festa having a bumpy return to the majors Thursday, there's a path for Adams to make some starts for the Twins, though he'll initially pitch out of the bullpen. Kody Funderburk was optioned to St. Paul in a corresponding move.
