Taylor (elbow) allowed a run on one hit in one inning in Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Taylor surrendered a solo shot to Kole Calhoun in the eighth inning in the former's first appearance since Sept. 5. Through 19 appearances, Taylor has a 2.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 15 strikeouts in 18 innings. He's also collected a save, four holds and a 1-1 record as a reliever this season.

Alexander (2-2) allowed a run on three hits across two innings to take the loss Friday against Cleveland. He walked two and struck out one.

Alexander followed starter Michael Fulmer, who tossed three scoreless frames, and the former allowed the game's first run in his second inning of work. That was enough to saddle Alexander with the loss as Cleveland prevailed 1-0. The lefty now has a 4.01 ERA and will continue to work as a long reliever out of the Detroit bullpen, though he's capable of making a spot start if needed.

Fulmer pitched three scoreless innings and did not factor into the decision in Friday's 1-0 loss to Cleveland. He allowed one hit and a walk, while striking out two.

This was a nice rebound effort for Fulmer, who had allowed nine earned runs across five innings in his last two starts. The righty still isn't being allowed to work very deep into games in his first year back after Tommy John surgery, as he's yet to pitch past the third inning this season. Fulmer will carry a bloated 8.17 ERA into his next outing, which is scheduled for Thursday against the Royals, and he figures to have a workload restriction once again.

Puk (shoulder) didn't need any repairs during his recent surgery and is expected to be ready for spring training, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Puk was shut down from throwing earlier in September and underwent surgery to aid in his recovery. However, he's expected to be ready by spring training in 2021 since the procedure was a debridement and cleanout of his shoulder.

Mengden (illness) joined the Athletics at the alternate training site and will begin throwing Saturday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Mengden tested positive for COVID-19 at the beginning of September, but he was reportedly asymptomatic. It's unclear when he'll be able to return to game action, but a better timetable for his return could be known once he resumes throwing.

Hamilton was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Friday.

The right-hander returned from the injured list Aug. 22 but was immediately optioned to the alternate training site. Hamilton has now been removed from the 40-man roster after allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and five walks over four innings this season.

Taylor (elbow) was activated off the 10-day injured list Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The 25-year-old landed on the injured list with elbow discomfort Sept. 7 and spends little more than the 10-day minimum on the shelf. Taylor has a 2.12 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 15:11 K:BB with one save and four holds over 17 innings this season.

Crochet had his contract selected by the White Sox and was added to the active roster Friday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The 21-year-old will join the big-league roster three months after being selected 11th overall during the June draft. Crochet is unlikely to fill a significant role with Chicago headed to the playoffs, but he may be able to make his professional.

Weber retired both of the hitters he faced en route to notching his third hold of the season in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Marlins.

Weber appeared as though he might have earned another look in Boston's rotation after he held the Blue Jays to two runs over five innings Sept. 5, but his last three appearances have come out of the bullpen. With rookie Tanner Houck having entered the rotation this week and Nick Pivetta expected to receive the opportunity to start next week, Weber is expected to fill a relief role over Boston's final nine games.

Fairbanks (5-3) was credited with the win over the Orioles in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday, allowing two hits and recording two strikeouts over a scoreless inning.

Fairbanks labored through a 27-pitch inning, but ultimately, he did enough to come through unscathed and became the pitcher of record when the Rays rallied for four runs in the home half of the frame. The 26-year-old also served as an opener Wednesday against the Nationals, and after throwing a combined 47 pitches in the back-to-back outings, he may need multiple days off before returning to the mound.
