Anderson (forearm) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Saturday and will likely also throw a live bullpen Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Manager Kevin Cash was fairly optimistic Wednesday that Anderson would be able to come off the 10-day injured list when first eligible Sunday. However, it appears as though the 30-year-old needs to complete at least one more successful throwing session before rejoining the team. Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported that Anderson is now on track to be activated when the Rays return home to face the Marlins in a series starting next Friday.

Pearson (elbow) was throwing up to 90 feet Saturday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Pearson played catch Friday for the first time from 60 feet and has now already upped the throwing distance to 90. There is no current outlook for a return, but it's not out of the discussion for the young right-hander to be activated before the regular season concludes.

Garcia will start one of the Yankees' two games Sunday against the Mets, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that Garcia and Michael King will be the starting pitchers for Sunday's twin bill, although it's unclear which game each pitcher will start. The 21-year-old Garcia will make his major-league debut after posting a 4.28 ERA and 165:54 K:BB over 111.1 innings during 26 appearances (21 starts) in the minors last season. Garcia has electric stuff that allows him to strike out batters at a high rate. The right-hander doesn't necessarily have a starter's build, so it's unclear whether future major-league action will come as a starter or out of the bullpen. However, he'll begin his time in the majors by starting against the Mets.

Romano (finger) is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks with middle finger numbness, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

The Blue Jays placed Romano on the 10-day injured list earlier in the day, but it appears as though he will need an extended absence. It's a tough break for the 27-year-old who was enjoying a 1.23 ERA and was just getting acclimated to the closer role before going down with the injury.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Saturday that Harvey (elbow) will be activated in the next day or two, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Harvey opened the season on the 10-day injured list with elbow soreness but has recently been trending towards a return. The young right-hander is with the team for its road series against the Blue Jays and is right on track to be activated by the end of August as initially expected. Harvey should close at some point but may need to pitch in some low-leverage situations before assuming the role as the ninth-inning guy.

Phillips was recalled from the Orioles' alternate training site Saturday when Shawn Armstrong (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Phillips already had a run with the Orioles before he was sent down to their alternate site Aug. 17. He went 1-1 in eight appearances while allowing five runs on nine hits and seven walks with nine strikeouts across 7.2 innings. He should fill in as a middle reliever for the Orioles until Armstrong is ready to return.

The Orioles announced Saturday that they are putting Armstrong on the 10-day injured list with back soreness, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Armstrong hasn't pitched since last Saturday, when he gave up a run on two hits and a walk in just one-third of an inning against Boston. He will be eligible to return Sept. 5 as the transaction is retroactive to Aug. 26. The Orioles called up Evan Phillips in a corresponding move.

Romano (finger) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

Romano was pulled from Friday's game against the Orioles with a right middle finger injury which reportedly "went numb" during his outing. He underwent an MRI on Saturday but has yet to receive results. With Romano unavailable, Anthony Bass figures to reassume his role as the team's closer for the time being.

Beeks (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery on Sept. 2, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Beeks was transferred to the 45-day injured list Wednesday with a left elbow sprain and now has to go under the knife. Beeks will more than likely miss the entire 2021 season while rehabbing although a potential return late in the year could technically still be an option. The left-hander had a 3.26 ERA while recording two holds and one save over 19.1 innings out of the bullpen.

Yarbrough (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Yarbrough exited Friday's game with left groin tightness, an issue that manager Kevin Cash said had been bothering him for some time. Cash didn't sound too concerned about the issue after Friday's game, but he'll be sidelined at least 10 days as a result. It's unclear who will take the left-hander's place in the starting rotation.
