Alexander will be recalled and will start Sunday's contest against the Blue Jays, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Alexander will fill in the rotation after Spencer Turnbull (back) was forced back to the injured list. The 25-year-old has recorded a 5.72 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 94 strikeouts across 85 innings for Triple-A Toledo this season. He will make his second appearance for Detroit on Sunday after making his major-league debut earlier this month. In that outing, he allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out four across five innings.

Peters will be recalled to start Sunday against Seattle, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Peters will fill in for Andrew Heaney, who landed on the injured list with shoulder inflammation Saturday. It's not clear whether he'll be pitching for the chance to remain in the rotation. He owns a poor 6.47 ERA in 57 innings for Triple-A Salt Lake this season but has a respectable 4.15 ERA in 8.2 innings at the big-league level.

Palumbo developed tendinitis in his right ankle coming out of a recent simulated game and won't be called up from Triple-A Nashville to start Monday's game against the Mariners, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

With the Rangers announcing Friday that Jesse Chavez would move into the bullpen, Palumbo was in line to rejoin the rotation as Texas' fifth starter this week. Those plans will be put on hold while Palumbo remains shut down with the injury, with the Rangers having yet to name a replacement for him. Adrian Sampson will be moved up a day in the pitching schedule to start Monday's series opener, but the Rangers will have to break in a new fifth starter beginning Tuesday.

Soto was recalled by the Tigers on Saturday.

Soto has seven starts and two relief appearances for the Tigers this season, stumbling to a 7.24 ERA while striking out just 15.6 percent of opposing batters. Starter Spencer Turnbull (back) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move, but Soto will pitch out of the bullpen for now, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The Orioles recalled Scott from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Catcher Austin Wynns was optioned to Triple-A to open up a spot on the active roster for Scott, who will likely work in middle relief while he's up with the big club. In 12 appearances out of the Baltimore bullpen earlier this season, Scott gave up seven earned runs on 15 hits and 11 walks over 11.1 innings.

The Royals recalled Staumont from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has made 12 starts for Omaha this season, but he'll work out of the bullpen initially for what marks his first callup to the big leagues. The hard-throwing right-hander could offer plenty of strikeout upside if he's ever able to show improved control, which has been an issue at each stop of the minors. Staumont has posted a 6.5 BB/9 over his 51.1 innings at Omaha in 2019.

The White Sox recalled Cordero from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

A waiver pickup from the Mariners earlier this summer, Cordero immediately impressed with his new organization while working out of the Charlotte bullpen. Over his 13 relief outings with the affiliate, Cordero gave up one earned run and posted a 0.91 WHIP and 14 strikeouts across 17.2 innings. He'll likely work in lower-leverage situations initially for Chicago but could climb the depth chart quickly in a bullpen lacking in high-impact arms.

The Rays placed Stanek on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a sore right hip, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Stanek likely picked up the injury in his relief appearance in Friday's loss to the White Sox, when he served up a run on three hits and struck out one in his lone inning of work. Since the injury is characterized as soreness rather than a hip strain, Stanek shouldn't be in store for a lengthy IL stint. Hunter Wood was recalled from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move and could fill Stanek's role as an opening pitcher and middle reliever.

The Red Sox optioned Weber to Triple-A Pawtucket after Friday's 11-2 loss to the Orioles.

The right-hander will cede his spot on the active roster to Nathan Eovaldi (elbow), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Weber has made three starts for Boston this season, but he worked exclusively in relief during his latest stint with the big club, giving up four runs (three earned) in 4.2 innings over his two appearances.

The Rangers intend to recall Palumbo from Triple-A Nashville to start Monday's game against the Mariners, Alyson Footer of MLB.com reports.

Palumbo will re-enter the Texas rotation as a replacement for Jesse Chavez, who was banished to the bullpen after a string of poor outings. Monday's start will represent the fourth appearance at the big-league level this season for Palumbo, who has yielded 11 earned runs over nine innings. The lefty turned in his best outing to date in his last outing with Texas on July 7 at Minnesota, where he covered three shutout innings in relief.
