Colome was unavailable to pitch Thursday after throwing 39 pitches the previous night, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Colome was needed for a five-out save Wednesday, rendering him a spectator Thursday regardless of what transpired. When a save situation presented itself, manager Rick Renteria turned to Aaron Bummer, who recorded the first save of his career.

Ottavino (2-2) took the loss Thursday against the White Sox after recording just two outs. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out two.

Ottavino came in the seventh inning with the score tied, 4-4. The bulk of his damage came in the form of a go-ahead home run to Leury Garcia which gave the White Sox the lead for good. While Ottavino has given up a homer in consecutive appearances, he still owns a 1.80 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 38:20 K:BB.

Bummer tossed a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one hit while striking out two.

Alex Colome was presumably unavailable after recording a five-out save Wednesday, so Bummer got the nod to finish things off. The 25-year-old did so in strong fashion, blanking the Yankees to pick up his first save in the big leagues. Through 18 appearances, Bummer owns a 1.37 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB.

Yarbrough (5-3) allowed five runs on five hits and one walk across six innings while taking the loss Thursday against the Angels. He struck out four.

Yarbrough allowed just five hits in his outing but all five went for extra bases, including a three-run home run from Shohei Ohtani and a two-run shot from Albert Pujols. He pitched quite well other than that, needing an economical 90 pitches to complete six frames. Yarbrough's form has been erratic lately; he's allowed five or more earned runs three times in the last six starts while yielding two or fewer in the other three. He'll look to bounce back next week on the road against the Yankees, though he could work with an opener in that contest.

Rijo (hamstring) threw five shutout innings Thursday for Low-A Cedar Rapids.

He returned after being out since May 27 with a hamstring injury. Rijo, who also posted a shutout start May 20 prior to his stint on the injured list, faced just one batter over the minimum Thursday and gave up one hit without allowing any runs or walks.

The Yankees plan on using Loaisiga (shoulder) as a starter when he's activated from the injured list, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Loaisiga has been on the shelf since May 13 due to a right shoulder strain, but he did begin throwing again Tuesday. Skipper Aaron Boone noted that he still intends on stretching Loaisiga out as a starter, though the right-hander could also be used in a relief role, depending on what the team needs at that time. Loaisiga still has a long road ahead of him before receiving the green light, as he's not eligible to return from the injured list until after the All-Star break.

Contrary to a previous report, Kittredge's contract was not selected from Triple-A on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

They instead ended up summoning Hunter Wood, who is already on the 40-man roster. That said, Kittredge will probably join the big-league bullpen at some point this summer. He has a 1.93 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 37.1 innings (27 appearances) at Triple-A.

Shafer was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

Shafer will replace Elvis Luciano (elbow), who was sent to the injured list Thursday, on the roster and in the bullpen. In a brief stint with the Blue Jays earlier in the season, Shafer made three relief appearances and posted a 4.91 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and 2:5 K:BB in 3.2 innings.

Hendriks (3-0) fired two-thirds of an inning of scoreless work, in which he allowed two hits and a walk in a win over the Rays on Wednesday. He struck out two.

It was an eventful 18-pitch appearance for Hendriks, who entered the game with a pair of runners on in the seventh and ultimately allowed both to score on a double and infield single, respectively. However, both runs went on starter Brett Anderson's ledger, and although Hendriks was technically charged with a blown save, he was also the pitcher of record in the victory. The veteran is putting together what is arguably a career-best season, as he's now carrying a 1.69 ERA and 1.15 WHIP across 37.1 innings.

Eades was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

The 27-year-old pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in two appearances with the Twins but was optioned to Triple-A to make room for Fernando Romero on the 25-man roster. It was an effective major-league debut for Eades, though, and he could find himself back in the Twins bullpen before the end of the season.
