Erceg secured his second save of the season in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Nationals after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.

Erceg was called upon for the save chance with Carlos Estevez having pitched each of the last three days. Erceg needed just seven pitches to retire the side, earning his first save since April 25. Estevez is second in baseball with 30 saves and will only give way if injured or unavailable. Erceg is sitting pretty behind him with a 2.52 ERA and 19 holds.

Martin (calf) experienced pain while throwing a live batting practice session Tuesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Martin was attempting to throw closer to full intensity while he faced live hitters Tuesday, but he soon felt irritation in the strained left calf that sent him to the injured list in late July. He will now slow down his rehab process to avoid injuring his calf further, which will push his expected return date further toward the end of August or possibly into September.

Suarez (shoulder) began his rehab assignment Tuesday night at Double-A Chesapeake, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Tuesday's appearance marks Suarez's return to game action after he was placed on the injured list March 28. Although he served as the starter Tuesday, the Orioles are building the right-hander up for a bulk-relief role.

The Angels designated Anderson for assignment Tuesday.

Anderson surrendered four earned runs on four hits and recorded just two outs in his appearance Monday versus the Dodgers. He had been selected from Triple-A Salt Lake just prior to the game. In a corresponding move Tuesday, the Angels recalled Victor Mederos.

Mederos will start Tuesday versus the Dodgers after Tyler Anderson, who was initially slated to start for the Halos, was scratched due to a back injury. In a corresponding move, Shaun Anderson was designated for assignment.

The Astros reinstated Dubin (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

The right-hander has been sidelined nearly two months due to a forearm strain but is ready to rejoin the active roster after a five-appearance rehab assignment. Dubin had a 1.33 ERA and six holds in 18 appearances this season prior to the injury, and he should at least be in the setup mix for Houston with closer Josh Hader (shoulder) landing on the injured list.

Harvey was diagnosed with a Grade 2 adductor strain and received an injection Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Manager Matt Quatraro said Tuesday that Harvey is expected to miss a significant amount of time, but the team still believes he could pitch again before the end of the season. A clearer timeline for his return will likely emerge whenever he's cleared to begin a throwing program.

The White Sox optioned Peguero to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

The right-hander was promoted Sunday after being claimed off waivers from the Brewers, and he allowed an earned run over 1.2 frames in his lone outing while up with the White Sox. Peguero had a 2.98 ERA with two saves and 11 holds across 51.1 innings for Milwaukee during the 2024 regular season, but he's made just seven appearances in the big leagues this year.

The White Sox selected Gomez's contract from Triple-A Charlotte, and he's scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

The right-hander spent time with the White Sox, Dodgers and Yankees early in the season and had a 6.62 ERA and 13:13 K:BB across 17.2 relief innings, and he's worked as a starter at Charlotte for the past few months. Gomez has excelled in that role at Triple-A and has a 2.12 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 64:21 K:BB over 46.2 innings, so Chicago will now give him his first start in the majors.

The Astros placed Hader on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Aug. 11, due to a left shoulder strain.

The All-Star closer was unavailable for the save Monday against the Red Sox due to left shoulder discomfort, and he's now been diagnosed with a strain. Hader will be eligible to be reinstated Aug. 26, though he's without an official timeline for his return since a recovery timetable has yet to be announced. Enyel De Los Santos and Bennett Sousa combined to handle the ninth inning Monday, but setup man Bryan Abreu is the likely favorite to fill in as Houston's closer.
