  • Andrew Wantz RP | TB

    Angels' Andrew Wantz: Opening Sunday

Wantz will start Sunday's game against the Twins, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Wantz made his only start of the season Sept. 13 in Seattle and covered two scoreless frames, and he'll likely have a similar workload for Sunday's bullpen game. The right-hander has a 3.93 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 29:13 K:BB across 34.1 innings this season.

  • Carson Fulmer RP | PIT

Angels' Carson Fulmer: Promoted to majors

The Angels called Fulmer up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Fulmer has spent all season with Salt Lake, where he posted a 5.27 ERA and 1.78 WHIP through 41 innings. Despite his poor performance in the minors and the fact he hasn't pitched in the majors since 2021, it's possible Fulmer gets into Sunday's contest as the Angels prepare for a bullpen game. Still, Fulmer shouldn't be viewed as a reliable fantasy option.

  • Jovani Moran RP | BOS

Twins' Jovani Moran: Moves to 60-day IL

The Twins recalledMoran (forearm) from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday and transferred him to the 60-day injured list.

While pitching for St. Paul, Moran suffered a left forearm strain in late August and was placed on the affiliate's 7-day IL. Though Moran was recalled from the minors prior to being transferred to the 60-day IL, the transaction was strictly for the purpose of opening up a spot on the 40-man roster for Chris Paddack (elbow), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL. Moran will miss the rest of the season, but so long as he avoids offseason surgery on his forearm, he should be fully cleared for the start of spring training.

  • Josh Winder RP | ARI

Twins' Josh Winder: Optioned to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Winder to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

Winder will head back to the minors as Chris Paddack (elbow) returns from the injured list to take over as Minnesota's multi-inning specialist out of the bullpen. Winder put up a 4.15 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 34.2 innings with the Twins.

  • Chris Paddack SP | CIN

Twins' Chris Paddack: Returns from injured list

The Twins reinstated Paddack (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Sunday.

Paddack has been on the shelf all season while recovering from the Tommy John procedure -- the second of his career -- he underwent in May 2022. He made three rehab starts in the minors, giving up four runs over 9.2 innings. Paddack figures to initially serve in a multi-inning relief role during Minnesota's postseason run, and he will likely rejoin the rotation in 2024. The Twins optioned Josh Winder to Triple-A St. Paul and transferred Jovani Moran (forearm) to the 60-day injured list as corresponding moves.

  • Red Sox's Kyle Barraclough: DFA'd by Sox

The Red Sox designated Barraclough for assignment Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Now that Zack Kelly (elbow) has returned from the 60-day IL, Barraclough will lose his spot on the 40-man roster to create room for Kelly. Barraclough made just three appearances for the Red Sox this season, giving up 11 runs over 7.2 frames.

  • Nick Robertson RP | LAD

Red Sox's Nick Robertson: Optioned to Triple-A

The Red Sox optioned Robertson to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Robertson will be pushed off the big-league roster following the return of Zack Kelly (elbow) from the 60-day injured list. Robertson has given up eight runs over 11 innings since joining the Red Sox in July.

  • Zack Kelly RP | BOS

Red Sox's Zack Kelly: Activated from IL

The Red Sox reinstated Kelly (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Kelly has been out for most of the season while recovering from elbow surgery he underwent in April. He allowed eight runs over six innings during his rehab assignment and has been deemed ready to join Boston's bullpen for the final week-plus of the season. The Red Sox optioned Nick Robertson to Triple-A Worcester and designated Kyle Barraclough for assignment as corresponding moves.

  • Declan Cronin RP | TEX

White Sox's Declan Cronin: Returns to majors

The White Sox recalled Cronin from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

As Jesse Scholtens heads to the injured list, Cronin will return to the major-league roster a day after being optioned to the minors. The 26-year-old righty has given up 10 runs through 7.2 innings with the White Sox this season, so he likely still won't see much action while with Chicago.

  • Angels' Carlos Estevez: Strikes out two for 31st save

Estevez picked up the save in Saturday's 1-0 win over Minnesota, striking out two over one inning while not allowing any hits or walks. He also hit a batter with a pitch.

Estevez entered the game with a one-run lead in the ninth and hit Kyle Farmer with a pitch in the opening at-bat before getting the next two batters to go down swinging. The right-handed reliever was then able to retire Christian Vazquez on a flyout to secure his 31st save of the season, marking the first time in his last four appearances that he didn't allow any hits or walks. Estevez has converted two of his last three save opportunities and has not given up a home run since Aug. 3.
