  • Angels' Kenny Rosenberg: Records quality start

Rosenberg (0-1) took the loss against Baltimore on Monday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

Rosenberg got his first start of the season and fared pretty well, yielding just three runs -- all in the third inning -- to finish with the first quality start of his brief big-league career. The Angels' offense was unable to reward him for it, however, and the southpaw also ended up with his first major-league loss. The Angels are short on starting pitching depth with Shohei Ohtani's elbow injury keeping him from pitching again this season, Chase Silseth on the concussion IL and Lucas Giolito recently claimed off waivers by Cleveland, so Rosenberg could stick as a starter for a bit, especially if Los Angeles continues to deploy a six-man rotation.

  • Yennier Cano RP | BAL

Orioles' Yennier Cano: Nabs save Monday

Cano earned a save against the Angels on Monday with a perfect ninth inning.

Cano came on in the ninth with a three-run cushion. He didn't need much time to close out the contest, retiring the side in order on just eight pitches. Since Felix Bautista landed on the injured list Aug. 26 with a UCL injury, Cano has notched both of Baltimore's saves. He's allowed just one earned run over 4.1 frames since Bautista went down and will likely continue to work as the team's top ninth-inning option for the foreseeable future.

  • Ryne Stanek RP | STL

Astros' Ryne Stanek: Exits with ankle injury

Stanek suffered a right ankle injury during his relief appearance in Monday's game against the Rangers, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports. He failed to record an out and surrendered one earned run on two hits prior to his departure.

Stanek went down hard after covering first base, and he was eventually carted off the field. The Astros will likely re-evaluate him after the game before providing a diagnosis of his injury, but if Stanek is forced to miss significant time, it would be a significant loss to the Houston bullpen. He's posted a 1.86 ERA and 0.62 WHIP with a 9:0 K:BB over his last 10 appearances heading into Monday.

  • Brock Stewart RP | LAD

Twins' Brock Stewart: Bullpen scheduled for 25 pitches

Stewart (elbow) will throw a 25-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

He threw a 15-pitch bullpen session last weekend, so it's been a steady progression for Stewart. The 31-year-old righty has been out since late June with elbow tendinitis and an ensuing setback in his recovery, but he's still got a chance to make it all the way back this season.

  • Erik Swanson RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Erik Swanson: Slated for mound work

Swanson (back) will throw off a mound Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

It will be his first time throwing from the bump since he went down with thoracic spine inflammation in late August. Swanson is eligible for activation on Sept. 11 and should be able to return then, barring any setbacks.

  • Red Sox's Logan Gillaspie: Nabbed off waivers by Boston

The Red Sox claimed Gillaspie off waivers from the Orioles on Monday, Chad Jennings of The Athletic reports.

Gillaspie will join Boston's 40-man roster but will report to Triple-A Worcester for now. The right-hander has permitted six earned runs on 14 hits and five walks in nine innings at the big-league level this season with the Orioles.

  • Kirby Snead RP | SEA

Athletics' Kirby Snead: Sent down to minors

Snead was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Snead holds a 4.63 ERA and 9:6 K:BB over 11.2 relief innings for the Athletics this season. His roster spot is being absorbed by Luis Medina (blister), who is coming off the injured list.

  • Athletics' Francisco Perez: Gets first win Sunday

Perez (1-1) got the win over the Angels on Sunday, firing a scoreless two-thirds of an inning during which he recorded a strikeout.

Perez was able to prevent further damage upon entering in the seventh after Adrian Martinez had allowed a game-tying solo home run to Luis Rengifo, striking out Shohei Ohtani and inducing an inning-ending lineout from Brandon Drury. The southpaw was then rewarded with his first big-league win when the Athletics rallied for six runs in the home half of the frame and held on for the victory. Perez has now put together three straight scoreless appearances, a four-inning sample during which he's generated a 4:0 K:BB and lowered his ERA from 8.53 to 5.23.

  • Jimmy Lambert RP | CHW

White Sox's Jimmy Lambert: Placed on 15-day IL

Lambert was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with right ankle inflammation.

Lambert suffered the injury during Sunday's appearance against the Tigers. He will be eligible to return on Sept. 19, although it's unclear at this time whether he will be ready by then.

  • Declan Cronin RP | TEX

White Sox's Declan Cronin: Summoned to big leagues

Cronin was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Cronin put up a 7.71 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over seven innings in an earlier stint with the White Sox. The team hasn't announced a corresponding move, but worth noting is Jimmy Lambert departed an appearance Sunday with an ankle injury.
