  • Joey Wentz SP | ATL

Braves' Joey Wentz: Tough night against Brew Crew

Wentz (2-3) took the loss Tuesday as Atlanta fell 7-2 to the Brewers, coughing up five runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

Most of the damage off the southpaw came in the third inning, when Milwaukee strung together four singles -- two of which didn't leave the infield -- along with a walk, a stolen base and a wild pitch to cross the plate four times. Despite the stumble, Wentz has a 3.09 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 24:7 K:BB over his first 23.1 innings with Atlanta, and the team's injury-ravaged rotation has no better options to take a turn every fifth day. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Marlins.

  • Anthony Molina SP | ATL

Rockies' Anthony Molina: Serves up five homers

Molina (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing seven runs on nine hits and a walk over five innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out two.

Molina made it through five innings Tuesday, but surrendering five home runs proved costly in the Rockies' loss. It was the right-hander's first MLB appearance since June 25, and his struggles have extended to Triple-A Albuquerque, where he's posted a 6.59 ERA and 1.89 WHIP across 69.2 innings this season.

  • Cubs' Andrew Kittredge: Ugly performance in loss

Kittredge (2-3) allowed four runs on four hits and a walk while retiring only one batter in relief to take the loss Tuesday against the Reds.

After Chicago starter Shota Imanaga dazzled across 6.1 innings, Kittredge was brought in to record the final two outs of the seventh with the bases empty. Things quickly unraveled for the righty, with the Reds breaking up a 1-1 game with four runs in the frame. The key blast was a three-run home run by Spencer Steer off Kittredge. The veteran reliever snapped a streak of five straight scoreless appearances and saw his ERA climb from 3.24 to 4.28 after the rough outing.

  • Padres' Sean Reynolds: Recalled again

The Padres recalled Reynolds from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

JP Sears was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday in a corresponding move. Reynolds made three appearances with Triple-A El Paso after being optioned June 30. He allowed no runs with a 4:2 K:BB across 2.2 innings, and he also earned a save in his last game Aug. 2.

  • Joe Jimenez RP | ATL

Braves' Joe Jimenez: Shut down after feeling soreness

Jimenez has been shut down from throwing after feeling soreness in his surgically repaired left knee, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.

Jimenez began throwing off a mound a little over a month ago and had appeared close to a rehab assignment, but now his timetable is up in the air. The reliever has been sidelined all season after undergoing surgery last November to repair damaged cartilage in his left knee.

  • Cam Sanders RP | PIT

    Pirates' Cam Sanders: Contract selected

The Pirates selected Sanders' contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

The right-hander will receive his first taste of the majors after making a mechanical adjustment in the minors earlier this season. Sanders has dominated at both the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season with a 1.91 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 51:20 K:BB across 42.1 innings.

  • Nate Pearson RP | HOU

Cubs' Nate Pearson: Rejoins big club

The Cubs recalled Pearson from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.

The right-hander has made just one appearance with the Cubs since late April, but he's back in the big leagues Tuesday with Michael Soroka (shoulder) heading to the injured list. Pearson has struggled in his nine big-league outings this year with a 12.66 ERA, 2.53 WHIP and 6:9 K:BB over 10.2 innings.

  • Anthony Molina SP | ATL

Rockies' Anthony Molina: Recalled ahead of start

The Rockies recalled Molina from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Molina will start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays in what will be his first start and sixth appearance at the big-league level in 2025. The right-hander has allowed seven runs with a 6:0 K:BB over 8.2 innings in his five relief outings. Molina could earn multiple turns in Colorado's rotation until Antonio Senzatela (finger) or German Marquez (biceps) returns.

  • Seth Johnson RP | PHI

Phillies' Seth Johnson: Sent back to minors

The Phillies optioned Johnson to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

Johnson fanned five over two scoreless frames Monday against the Orioles and boasts a 17:4 K:BB over 12.2 innings with the big club this season, but having minor-league options worked against him here. Joe Ross (back) has been activated from the injured list to absorb Johnson's roster spot.

  • Joe Ross RP | PHI

Phillies' Joe Ross: Activated from injured list

The Phillies activated Ross (back) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Ross has been sidelined since late July with back spasms but is ready to go following a brief rehab assignment. He'll fill a multi-inning relief role.
