  • John King RP | STL

Cardinals' John King: Exits appearance with side injury

King was removed from an appearance Tuesday versus the Marlins due to a left side injury, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The Cardinals deemed King's removal precautionary, with the hope being that he is merely dealing with cramps rather than an oblique injury. He will be re-evaluated Wednesday. King threw two-thirds of a scoreless frame before exiting.

  • Jalen Beeks RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jalen Beeks: Starts up rehab assignment

Beeks (back) walked one batter and allowed no hits over a scoreless inning of relief in a rehab appearance Tuesday for Triple-A Reno.

Beeks has been on the shelf since July 11 due to back inflammation, so he's not expected to require an extended rehab assignment before rejoining the Arizona bullpen. Depending on how he recovers from Tuesday's outing, Beeks could be reinstated in advance of the club's weekend series in Sacramento versus the Athletics.

  • Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: In midst of throwing progression

Graterol (shoulder) is going through a throwing progression at the Dodgers' complex in Arizona, per MLB.com.

Graterol continues to rehab from the shoulder labrum surgery he underwent last November. The fireballing reliever is hoping to return to the Dodgers' bullpen before the end of the season, but he probably won't be able to do so any earlier than September.

  • Dennis Santana RP | PIT

Pirates' Dennis Santana: Records sixth save

Santana struck out two in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Giants.

Santana pitched a scoreless inning for a hold Monday, but he was tasked with closing out Tuesday's game since regular closer David Bednar had a 32-pitch outing Monday. Santana has been the Pirates' top setup man this year and has allowed just three runs with a 17:5 K:BB over his last 22 innings. The right-hander is at a 1.36 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 38:10 K:BB through 46.1 innings overall while adding six saves, 12 holds and a blown save.

  • Aaron Ashby SP | MIL

Brewers' Aaron Ashby: Picks up second save

Ashby allowed a run on one hit and a walk over 3.1 innings Tuesday, striking out two and earning a save against the Cubs.

Ashby entered the sixth inning with two outs and two runners in scoring position. He forced a Matt Shaw pop out to end the threat and would go on to finish the contest. Ashby threw 42 pitches and earned his first save since June 12. He now owns a 2.05 ERA with a 33:12 K:BB through 30.2 frames out of the bullpen. Ashby helped give Milwaukee's other relief arms some rest in Tuesday's 9-3 win and won't see many traditional save chances.

  • Alex Vesia RP | LAD

Dodgers' Alex Vesia: Locks down fourth save

Vesia earned the save in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Reds, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Tasked with protecting a one-run lead, Vesia delivered a clean ninth inning, fanning two batters and allowing no baserunners to secure his fourth save of the season, and his first since July 11. The left-hander has been nearly untouchable of late, giving up just one earned run across his last 15 appearances. Vesia now holds a 2.42 ERA, .90 WHIP and 62:13 K:BB through 44.2 innings this season and remains one of the Dodgers' top high-leverage bullpen arms.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Demoted to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse following Monday night's game.

Brazoban came on in relief of Frankie Montas during the fifth inning of Monday's game against the Padres, inheriting runners on second and third with one out and a 5-3 lead. While he eventually recorded the last two outs of the inning, Brazoban allowed three hits and a walk, which led to the Padres taking the lead with their sixth run of the game. In a corresponding move, the Mets re-signed Chris Devenski to the active roster Tuesday.

  • Chris Devenski RP | PIT

Mets' Chris Devenski: Re-signed by Mets

The Mets signed Devenski to a one-year major-league contract Tuesday.

Devenski rejoins the Mets after being designated for assignment by them July 22. He had elected free agency Saturday, but the Mets resigned him Tuesday after they optioned Huascar Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

    Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Resumes throwing

Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Scott (elbow) has begun a throwing progression, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Scott still has several hurdles to clear before he can come off the injured list, but his return to throwing is a positive sign nonetheless. The 31-year-old reliever landed on the IL last Tuesday with elbow inflammation and remains without a clear return timeline, though he's still expected back in the Dodgers' bullpen before the end of the year.

  • Cubs' Gavin Hollowell: Back in big-league bullpen

The Cubs recalled Hollowell from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Hollowell has a 5.24 ERA with a 34:12 K:BB in 22.1 innings across 20 games for Triple-A Iowa in 2025. Since being optioned back down May 12, he has a 6.23 ERA across 13 innings. With the 27-year-old returning to the active roster, Chris Flexen was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
