Rogers picked up the save Friday against the Marlins. He struck out two over 1.1 perfect innings.

Rogers has allowed just one run over eight innings pitched this month. In fact, four of the right-hander's six total runs allowed this year came in the same series against the Padres in late April. He's been quite effective against the rest of the league, as evidenced by his 2.31 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. Closer Camilo Doval pitched three of the previous four days and should remain San Francisco's top option for saves.

Chavez will start Saturday's game against the Mariners, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Chavez will act as an opener in what will be a bullpen day for Atlanta. The veteran right-hander will not go deep enough to qualify for a win and he shouldn't be streamed for fantasy purposes.

Puk (elbow) has upped his throwing distance to 90 feet, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The left-hander was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with left elbow nerve irritation, but the fact he's already resumed throwing is a positive sign. Puk could be back as the Miami closer before the end of May.

Underwood left Friday's game against the Diamondbacks with right forearm tightness, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Underwood allowed two earned runs before leaving in the seventh inning while getting just one out. Yohan Ramirez has taken over on the mound for Underwood against the Diamondbacks.

Jackson (elbow) will pitch again Saturday in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Sacramento.

Jackson has made two relief appearances thus far on his rehab assignment, not allowing a run with two strikeouts over two innings. The right-hander is making steady progress after missing all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. The Giants will likely want to see Jackson work in back-to-back games before activating him, but he could be a late-inning option for the club before the month of May ends.

Szapucki is undergoing surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome Friday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Szapucki has been on the 60-day injured list since the start of the season due to what was originally diagnosed as shoulder trouble, and the surgery will all but assuredly put an end to the season. The left-hander will have a chance to compete for a roster spot in 2024 if he's healthy, but the track record of pitchers recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome is spotty at best.

The Reds recalled Busenitz from Triple-A Louisville on Friday.

With Derek Law headed for the 15-day IL due to a right elbow sprain, Busenitz will join the Reds' bullpen. He made his first major-league appearance since 2018 on Sunday, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over 0.2 innings. Busenitz holds a 1.80 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 15 Triple-A frames, and he shouldn't be expected to see high-leverage usage with Cincy.

Cincinnati placed Law on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 17, with a right elbow sprain.

Law has delivered an impressive 2.57 ERA through 21 innings this season, at times working as an opener, so this is a fairly significant blow to the Reds' staff. It's unclear how long he might be sidelined.

Alvarado (elbow) played catch on flat ground Friday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Alvarado will throw from a distance of 75 feet for a couple more days before ramping up toward a return to mound work. The lefty reliever has been sidelined since May 10 due to elbow inflammation. He is tracking toward being ready for activation around the end of May.

The Cubs optioned Thompson to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Thompson surrendered three earned runs while recording no outs in his last appearance Wednesday versus the Astros. He carries an overall 4.22 ERA in 21.1 innings of relief this year with Chicago.
