The Pirates claimed Solomon off waivers from the Astros on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old right-hander had been one of the top pitching prospects in the upper levels of the Astros' farm system, but Houston's ample starting depth at the big-league level made it tough for Solomon to get an extended opportunity in the majors. Though he'll head to Triple-A with his new organization, the Pirates should at least present Solomon with a clearer path to pitching meaningful innings in the majors either later this year or next season. Over his 97 innings at Triple-A Sugar Land in 2022, Solomon posted a 5.20 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 88:44 K:BB in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

The Nationals placed Arano on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right shoulder strain.

Arano's placement on the IL is retroactive to Friday, making him eligible for activation as soon as Sept. 17 if his shoulder issue proves to be a minor concern. The right-hander had been sharp over his last seven relief appearances prior to landing on the IL, as he struck out 11 over 6.2 scoreless innings while allowing eight baserunners.

The Nationals recalled Machado from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.

He'll rejoin the big-league bullpen as a replacement for right-hander Victor Arano (shoulder), who was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Over 43.1 innings with the Nationals on the season, Machado has logged a 4.57 ERA and 1.43 WHIP to go with one win and two holds.

The Mets optioned Medina to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Medina was sent packing so that the Mets could clear room on the 28-man active roster for Carlos Carrasco (oblique), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in advance of his start Sunday against the Nationals. During his three-day stint in the majors, Medina's lone appearance came in the Mets' 7-1 loss Saturday, when he recorded just one out and surrendered five runs (four earned) on five hits and one walk.

Jansen blew the save during Saturday's 2-1 win against the Marlins, allowing one run on two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.

Jansen entered in the ninth inning to protect a 1-0 lead and immediately faltered, surrendering three straight baserunners prior to recording an out. A Jerar Encarnacion sacrifice fly brought in the tying run and the 34-year-old recorded an additional out before he was removed following a lengthy delay due to an injury to the home plate umpire. Jansen has now surrendered five runs in three innings across his last four appearances and has suffered two blown saves in the process, increasing his ERA from 3.04 to 3.75.

The Rockies recalled Blach from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

He'll be designated as the Rockies' 29th man for Sunday's doubleheader with the Reds, meaning he'll likely be returned to Triple-A immediately after the twin bill. Blach has previously made 19 appearances (one start) for Colorado in 2022, accruing a 6.46 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 39 innings.

The Reds recalled Moreta from Triple-A Louisville ahead of Sunday's doubleheader with the Rockies.

Moreta is being designated as the Reds' 29th man for the doubleheader and will be available out of the bullpen for either contest before likely heading back to Triple-A on Monday. Over his 31.2 innings in the big leagues this season, Moreta has posted a 5.97 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB.

Mantiply (2-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and struck out one over two-thirds of an inning to pick up the loss to Milwaukee on Saturday.

Arizona's bullpen collectively blew this game, but it was Mantiply that served up a 428-foot, two-run home run to Tyrone Taylor in the 10th inning. The left-hander was a well-deserving All Star for a strong first half, but he's fallen on rough times the last two weeks, during which he's allowed eight runs (seven earned) and two homers over 4.2 innings. "At this point, I kind of recently feel like a liability a little bit," Mantiply told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. "It's tough to swallow." Arizona manager Torey Lovullo mentioned Mantiply as a reliever that could get save opportunities, but it sounds like his confidence has been shaken.

Littell (2-2) earned the win Saturday over the Phillies, retiring the only batter he faced in the contest.

Littell was in the right place at the right time for the win. Scott Alexander allowed the Phillies to tie the score in the sixth inning, but Littell stranded Jean Segura on second base and the Giants retook the lead in their half of the frame. Since returning from an oblique injury, Littell has given up two runs across 8.2 innings through eight appearances, adding one save and one hold in that span. He's posted a 4.38 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB through 39 innings overall, mainly serving in a middle-relief role.

Rogers earned a save against Arizona on Saturday, striking out two batters in a perfect 10th inning.

Devin Williams got the ninth inning with the score tied, and he kept Arizona off the scoreboard to send the game to an extra frame. After Milwaukee scored twice in the top of the 10th, Rogers shut down the Diamondbacks in the bottom of the inning to record his 30th save of the campaign. The lefty reliever hasn't given up an earned run in any of his past eight outings and has notched a pair of saves and a pair of wins over that span. Williams is still the primary candidate for save chances out of the Brewers' bullpen, but Rogers is clearly the preferred option when Williams is unavailable or used in other ways.
