Miller's contract was selected from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.

Miller joined the Giants on a minor-league deal in June and posted a 3.62 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 32.1 innings over 27 appearances (one start) at Sacramento over the last few months. He posted a 9.24 ERA in 12.2 innings over 13 relief appearances between the Pirates and Cubs last year and should serve mainly as a low-leverage reliever for the Giants after Cole Waites was sent down Thursday.

Hader earned a save against the Cardinals on Wednesday with a perfect ninth inning.

Hader threw a strike on just six of 12 pitches and didn't fan any batters for the first time in four outings, but he retired St. Louis in order to close out the 1-0 Padres win. The veteran reliever was demoted from the closer role in late August but has since reclaimed the position and successfully recorded five straight save opportunities. Since Aug. 31, he's posted a 1.29 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 7:1 K:BB over seven innings covering seven appearances.

Brebbia will serve as the opener for Thursday's series finale against the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Brebbia filled the opener role in Tuesday's game in Colorado, allowing a hit and striking out two in a scoreless inning. The right-hander has yet to go more than one inning in any of his six previous turns as an opener, so it's likely to again be a bullpen day for the Giants. Jharel Cotton was added to the big-league roster Wednesday but didn't pitch in that night's game, so he could be an option to pick up the bulk of the innings Thursday.

Diaz tallied the final two outs without allowing a baserunner to earn the save Wednesday against Boston.

Diaz entered the game with runners on first and second to protect a four-run lead. However, he induced a double-play ball to end the game and earn his eighth save of the season. Since the start of September, Diaz has allowed two earned runs across 7.1 innings while also picking up two wins and two saves. He's served as Cincinnati's primary closer since early August and has maintained a 1.84 ERA with a 76:30 K:BB across 58.2 innings for the campaign.

Finnegan didn't allow a hit or walk and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Wednesday against Atlanta.

Finnegan effectively protected a one-run lead to tally his 11th save of the season. After some significant struggles earlier in September, Finnegan has allowed only one earned run across his last five appearances while maintaining an 8:0 K:BB. Though his success in the role has been inconsistent, Finnegan appears to be locked in as the Nationals' closer.

Thompson (10-5) pitched three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win Wednesday against the Marlins. He allowed a hit and a walk, while striking out six.

Thompson returned from the 15-day injured list Wednesday after missing nearly a month with lower-back tightness. The righty looked like he hadn't missed a beat, as he dazzled as a reliever. Thompson did make 17 starts for the Cubs this year, though he'll now finish the season in this bullpen role before potentially re-entering the rotation in 2023. He currently has a 3.86 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 107.1 innings this year.

Treinen (shoulder) won't be activated Thursday as the Dodgers had originally hoped, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Manager Dave Roberts noted that Treinen "hasn't bounced back the way we hoped." There's no word yet on exactly how long his return will be delayed, but it sounds like the Dodgers will have to wait a few more days before welcoming Treinen back to their bullpen.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Graterol (elbow) will be activated off the 15-day injured list Thursday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Graterol was placed on the injured list at the beginning of the month due to inflammation in his right elbow. He spent much of July and August on the injured list as well, and threw 4.1 scoreless innings in between IL stints. His return will provide a huge boost to a Los Angeles bullpen that has been dealing with a plethora of injuries late in the season.

Holton was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old was sent to Reno in late August but will rejoin the big club Wednesday with Ryne Nelson (shoulder) headed to the injured list. Holton has pitched in 10 games for Arizona this year and has allowed three earned runs with a 6:2 K:BB over nine innings.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Hicks (neck) was feeling better Wednesday but remains on a "no-throw, rest program," John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Hicks also reported feeling a "strange sensation" in his arm to go along with his fatigue; however, an MRI revealed no structural damage. There remains no word on how soon Hicks will be able to return to St. Louis' bullpen.
