Gallegos (2-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit in one inning, taking the extra-inning loss Saturday versus the Brewers. He struck out none and walked none.

Gallegos gave up an RBI triple to Hunter Renfroe, who then scored on a Kolten Wong sacrifice fly. That was enough of a cushion for the Brewers to hold off the Cardinals. Gallegos hadn't pitched since last Saturday, so there may have been a little rust, and this was just his sixth appearance since the All-Star break. The right-hander has a 3.40 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 53:11 K:BB while logging 11 saves, seven holds and six blown saves through 42.1 innings. Gallegos hasn't received many chances to reassert himself in the high-leverage conversation for a team that's won eight of its 11 games in August.

Williams (4-2) struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the win in Saturday's extra-inning victory over the Cardinals.

Williams was deployed in the ninth inning to keep the game tied, and he did so with relative ease. The Brewers took the lead in the 10th, and Matt Bush closed out the contest. Since Josh Hader was traded to the Padres, Williams has collected a save, two wins and two losses. His usage Saturday followed that of a traditional closer in a tie game on the road, though it's safe to say he hasn't fully seized control of the role. Bush has two saves since joining the Brewers in a trade from Texas, while Taylor Rogers missed time with a knee injury and has yet to log a save or hold for Milwaukee. This bullpen remains a fluid situation, though Williams' stellar ratios (1.62 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 71:19 K:BB) through 44.1 innings still make him the favorite for converting save chances.

Bender (undisclosed) was removed from the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Atlanta after throwing five pitches, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Bender came in to pitch with the Marlins down four runs in the ninth, though his outing was cut short. It's unclear what caused his exit, but Bender returned from a back injury on Aug. 2.

Topa (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Topa spent the start of the 2022 season recovering from a significant right elbow that he sustained last September, but he began a rehab assignment in late July. He posted a 3.86 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 9.1 innings over nine appearances in the minors and will remain with the Triple-A club now that he's back to full health.

Strzelecki was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Strzelecki was sent to the minors in early August but will rejoin the Brewers' bullpen after Trevor Gott (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Over seven relief appearances in the majors this year, Strzelecki has posted a 3.27 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 11 innings.

Gott was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain Saturday, retroactive to Aug. 11.

Gott spent time on the injured list with a groin injury earlier in the year, but he's now dealing with a forearm issue that will force him to miss at least two more weeks. He'll be eligible to return in late August, but it's not yet clear when he'll be able to rejoin the Brewers. Peter Strzelecki was recalled to take Gott's place in the bullpen.

Brigham was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville following the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Miami, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Brigham struck out three in two scoreless relief innings during Saturday's matinee. However, he'll head to the minors after Tommy Nance (groin) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list to serve as the opener during Saturday's nightcap.

Nance was on the injured list since July 24, but he began a rehab assignment in early August. He allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out three in three innings over two appearances in the minors and has now been cleared to rejoin the major-league club. He'll begin Saturday's nightcap on the mound but will likely serve as an opener since he hasn't pitched more than 2.1 innings in any outing this season.

Smith (lat) will resume throwing Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Smith has been on the injured list for over two weeks, but he's been cleared to begin a throwing program. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to game action, but he seems to be trending in the right direction.

Lawrence was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.

Lawrence has been in the minors since the end of July, but he'll rejoin the Rockies' bullpen after Alex Colome (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Over 16 appearances in the majors this year, Lawrence has posted a 5.60 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in 17.2 innings.
