Thompson pitched two scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's 9-8 extra-inning loss to the Tigers. He allowed one hit and struck out five.

Thompson allowed an unearned run in his last appearance before Saturday to take his first loss, but he's otherwise been stellar for the Cubs. The righty has a 0.00 ERA across 10.1 innings and has struck out seven. Three of Thompson's five appearances have covered at least two innings, so he's been able to give the team some valuable length out of the bullpen. His current role doesn't really put him on the fantasy radar, but the 26-year-old could earn more high-leverage work if he keeps pitching well.

Kimbrel (0-2) gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits in two-thirds of an inning Saturday to take the loss and blow his second save of the season as the Cubs fell 9-8 to the Tigers in 10 innings. He struck out one.

The Cubs pushed one run across in the top of the 10th in the see-saw affair, but Kimbrel couldn't slam the door in the bottom of the frame as JaCoby Jones' stolen base set up Harold Castro's walkoff single. It's only the second time in 16 appearances this season Kimbrel has been tagged for an earned run, and his ratios (1.15 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 41.0 percent strikeout rate) remain at a level he hasn't seen since his heyday with Atlanta nearly a decade ago.

Nelson will start Sunday's game against the Marlins, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

The 31-year-old will make his first start since 2019 with the Brewers, though he's only expected to cover two or three innings. Nelson has been a solid bullpen piece for the Dodgers so far in 2021 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB across 15 innings.

Devenski was placed on the 60-day injured list Saturday with a sprained UCL in his right elbow.

The 30-year-old last pitched Thursday against the Marlins and surrendered two runs on four hits over two-thirds of an inning. Devenski will now be sidelined for at least the next two months while on the 60-day IL, though given it's a UCL injury, a longer absence wouldn't be surprising.

Mantiply's contract was selected by the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Mantiply has thrown eight career innings of relief at the big-league level without much success. He's allowed 12 runs on 13 hits while striking out six and walking eight. Chris Devenski (elbow) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

Bukauskas was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right elbow flexor strain.

The 24-year-old surrendered two runs on four hits over an inning Friday against the Nationals, and he'll now be sidelined by the elbow strain. Bukauskas is eligible to return May 25, but it's unclear if he's expected to be activated after a minimum stay on the shelf.

Gilbreath was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The 25-year-old has now completed his second stint in the majors this season and has allowed six runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks over 5.1 innings. Gilbreath worked as a starter the last time he was in the minors in 2019, and it's unclear if he'll return to that role or continue working out of the bullpen.

Uceta was recalled by the Dodgers on Saturday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Uceta is already on his third stint with the big-league team so far this season. He appeared once in each of his first two, giving up two runs in 4.1 innings. AJ Pollock (hamstring) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

Milner's contract was selected by the Brewers on Saturday.

Milner gives the Brewers an additional lefty in the bullpen, with Eric Lauer heading to the minors to stretch out as a starter in a corresponding move. Milner owns a passable 4.53 ERA in 55.2 career big-league innings, though his combination of an 18.2 percent strikeout rate and an 11.1 percent walk rate is unimpressive.

Webb, who allowed an earned run on two walks over 1.1 innings in a loss to the Padres on Friday, owns a 19.29 ERA over four May appearances.

The left-hander also recorded two strikeouts Friday for his first outing with multiple punchouts this season, but Webb simply can't seem to settle into any sort of groove for an extended period. The veteran offered some hope when he posted four consecutive scoreless appearances over a seven-day period in mid-April, but he's subsequently generated a 16.62 ERA and 3.23 WHIP in the 4.1 innings covering his next six appearances. Webb is still seeing as much work as in past seasons -- his 15 appearances are already just six fewer than the 21 he logged in 2020 -- but manager Mike Shildt could reach his breaking point eventually if the 30-year-old doesn't figure things out soon.
