Sims will start Wednesday against the Brewers, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

It's unclear if Sims will be in line for more than one start. Wednesday's previously scheduled starter, Tyler Mahle, landed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain Monday, and the Reds have yet to announce a target date for his return. Sims owns an unremarkable 4.56 ERA in 16 starts for Triple-A Louisville this season but owns a solid 3.72 ERA and an excellent 12:2 K:BB in 9.2 innings for the Reds.

Menez was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Menez got the call from Triple-A to replace the struggling Drew Pomeranz in the rotation Sunday against the Mets and didn't disappoint in his MLB debut, ceding two runs and scattering three hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings in the no-decision. The performance should be enough to earn Menez another look when the Giants next require a fifth starter, but off days Thursday and July 29 should allow the team to get by with a four-man rotation until Aug. 3 in Colorado.

The Cubs optioned Edwards to Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

After missing more than a month with a back injury, Edwards rejoined the Cubs over the weekend and made his first appearance with the big club since June 9 in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Padres. The right-hander was unable to get the job done in relief, retiring only one of the four batters he faced in the 17-pitch appearance. The Cubs haven't announced a replacement for Edwards on the active roster, but reliever Rowan Wick is expected to be recalled from Iowa in a corresponding move.

Gallegos (2-1) earned a win in Sunday's victory over the Reds, firing 1.2 perfect innings during which he recorded four strikeouts.

Gallegos once again came through despite entering the game in a sticky situation, getting out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fifth inning by getting Josh VanMeter and Scooter Gennett on 86 mph sliders for two of his four strikeouts. Gallegos now has five consecutive scoreless appearances, and he's allowed just two earned runs over his last 22 trips to the mound overall. Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports that Gallegos has honed his slider into one of his most effective pitches and that manager Mike Shildt has learned to trust the rookie in high-leverage scenarios because of his pinpoint control (7.9 K/BB, second in NL). "It's about getting outs," Shildt said. "He's a low walk, high strikeout guy, so you can trust him with runners on base and it was a good spot for him. He was huge for us today."

Wilson allowed four hits over seven scoreless innings while striking out four for Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

The 21-year-old continues to flash his upside in the minors, although Wilson's skills haven't yet translated into big-league success. With Atlanta expected to be buyers at the trade deadline, the team's No. 4 fantasy prospect could be dangled if the front office decides to pursue a blockbuster deal.

Gsellman (0-2) took the loss against the Giants on Sunday, tossing 1.1 innings and giving up a walkoff solo home run to Mike Yastrzemski in the 12th.

After Jeurys Familia walked the first two batters in the 11th, Gsellman got the call and escaped the jam. but his luck didn't hold in the following frame as he threw a 3-2 changeup to Yastrzemski that got a little too much of the plate. The right-hander now carries a 6.52 ERA over his last 9.2 innings, having served up three homers in that stretch, and his 1.34 WHIP actually masks how shaky his command and control have been -- he has a 9:4 K:BB, but that doesn't include four HBPs.

Yamamoto (4-1) allowed five runs on four hits and two walks across four innings while taking the loss Sunday against the Dodgers. He struck out four.

Yamamoto was bitten by the long ball in the early going, as Max Muncy and Joc Pederson mashed two-run home runs in the first and third innings, respectively. He allowed another run before completing the fourth inning and didn't come back out for the fifth due to an elevated pitch count. Yamamoto previously hadn't allowed more than two earned runs in any start this season and will look to bounce back in his next outing at home against the Diamondbacks.

Hader gave up one hit while striking out two batters in a scoreless inning against Arizona on Sunday to earn his 22nd save.

Hader entered in the ninth inning staked to a three-run lead and made easy work of the Diamondbacks, striking out two and allowing only a harmless single. The scoreless outing was a welcome sight after Hader allowed two runs in three of his previous five appearances. Despite the recent struggles, the flamethrowing lefty has continued to cement his name atop the list of the most dominant relievers in baseball this season, compiling a 2.27 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 16.6 K/9 while converting 22 of 24 save opportunities.

Young did not factor into the decision against the Brewers on Sunday, tossing four innings and giving up four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five.

Young was staked to a 4-0 lead after three innings but fell apart in the fourth, loading the bases on a pair of walks and a single before serving up a grand slam to Tyler Saladino. Although he was allowed to finish the inning, Young did not return in the fifth after needing a season-high 80 pitches to make it through four frames. The lefty entered the game having given up only two earned runs in 18.2 innings and saw his ERA rise from 0.96 to 2.38 after Sunday's performance. He has nonetheless earned a spot in Arizona's rotation and is next scheduled to face the Marlins in Miami on Saturday.

Menez allowed two runs on three hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out six batters during a no-decision in the win over the Mets.

Menez had a strong MLB debut Sunday, mostly rolling through the Mets aside from allowing a pair of solo shots in the second inning. The 24-year-old lefty has been successful between Triple-A Sacramento and Double-A Richmond this season, recording a 3.13 ERA and 123:36 K:BB over 95 innings. He likely did enough Sunday to earn another start, which could come next weekend in San Diego. Even if he heads back to the minors, Menez could be worth a stash in deeper leagues.
