  • Michael Kopech SP | LAD

Dodgers' Michael Kopech: IL stint likely

Kopech is tending to uncertain physical issues which are expected to require a stint on the injured list, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Kopech didn't say what was bothering him specifically, but he's expected to need some time off to recover. The 29-year-old has endured some control issues recently, having walked eight batters in his last four appearances spanning 2.2 innings. Will Klein is expected to be added to the active roster as the corresponding move.

  • Freddy Tarnok RP | MIA

Marlins' Freddy Tarnok: Activated from IL, optioned

The Marlins reinstated Tarnok (ankle) from the 15-day injured list Friday and optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Tarnok has been on the shelf since early September due to a sprained left ankle, but he's been cleared to return after a brief rehab stint. The 26-year-old will head to Jacksonville for the closing week or so of the regular season. He has a 3.19 ERA in 67.2 innings with Jacksonville in 2025.

  • Dane Dunning RP | ATL

Braves' Dane Dunning: Optioned to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Dunning to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Dunning has struggled in a mop-up role with Atlanta, posting a 10.80 ERA over seven appearances. His spot on the roster and in the bullpen will be absorbed by Jhancarlos Lara.

  • Calvin Faucher RP | MIA

Marlins' Calvin Faucher: Collects one-out save

Faucher earned the save Thursday against the Rockies, recording the final out of the game while allowing one hit.

The right-hander was summoned with two outs in the ninth inning after Valente Bellozo surrendered four runs to put the game in peril. Faucher gave up a single to Hunter Goodman before inducing a game-ending groundout to secure the victory. Faucher has been sharp of late, holding opponents scoreless in seven of his last eight appearances, and he needed just six pitches to wrap things up Thursday. On the season, the 29-year-old has converted 14 of 19 save chances while adding seven holds with a 3.28 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 56:22 K:BB across 57.2 innings.

  • Alex Vesia RP | LAD

Dodgers' Alex Vesia: Picks up fifth save

Vesia struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Giants.

Vesia and Tanner Scott were the only relievers the Dodgers used Wednesday, but Vesia's workload was lighter in that appearance. That put him in position to get a save opportunity Thursday, and the southpaw delivered a sharp outing to convert it. Since returning from an oblique injury Sept. 9, Vesia has allowed one run over 4.2 innings, adding two holds and a 7:1 K:BB in that span. He's at a 2.68 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 76:19 K:BB through 57 innings this season. Vesia has converted five saves while adding 23 holds and four blown saves as a fixture in the high-leverage mix throughout the year.

  • Jared Koenig SP | MIL

Brewers' Jared Koenig: Secures second save

Koenig allowed a hit and struck out one over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Angels.

Abner Uribe was deployed against the heart of the Angels' order in the eighth inning, leaving Koenig to pick up the save in the ninth. This was Koenig's seventh straight scoreless outing, and he's posted a 14:1 K:BB while earning two saves and a hold in that span. He's pitched well as a high-leverage option this year, posting a 3.10 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 64:20 K:BB with two saves and 26 holds over 61 innings.

  • Aaron Bummer RP | ATL

Braves' Aaron Bummer: Moves on 60-day IL

Atlanta transferred Bummer (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Left shoulder inflammation sent Bummer to the injured list in late August, and although he began a throwing program Saturday, his move to the 60-day IL will officially rule him out for the rest of the season. He'll give up his place on the 40-man roster to Brett Wisely, who was claimed off waivers from San Francisco in a corresponding move.

  • Kyle Backhus RP | PHI

Diamondbacks' Kyle Backhus: Optioned to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks optioned Backhus to Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

Backhus has appeared in 32 games out of Arizona's bullpen this season, recording a 4.62 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB across 25.1 innings. He picked up his second save of the season in last Sunday's win over the Twins.

  • Philip Abner P | ARI

Diamondbacks' Philip Abner: Contract selected from Reno

The Diamondbacks selected Abner's contract from Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

The 23-year-old Abner opened 2025 in Single-A but has advanced through Arizona's minor-league system quickly and appears set to make his MLB debut in the coming days. The left-hander has a 3.07 ERA and 10.7 K/9 across 58.2 innings of relief in the minors this season. Abner was a sixth-round pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft.

  • Chris Devenski RP | NYM

Mets' Chris Devenski: Up to help big-league bullpen

Devenski was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.

The journeyman reliever carried a 5.92 ERA in 83.2 innings from 2022-24, but Devenski has a 2.30 ERA in 15.2 innings for the Mets this season, in part due to a 5.9% HR/FB and 80.9 LOB%. He should work in low-leverage situations.
