White (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

It would appear to be the first time White has thrown from the mound since he underwent a hydrodissection procedure last month to address radial nerve-related symptoms. The right-hander is done for the season, but if the procedure has the desired effect he should have a normal offseason and be ready to go for spring training.

Walker pitched a perfect inning and earned the save in Monday's 6-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Walker has rebounded with a pair of saves since he took a walk-off loss versus the Orioles last Thursday. The right-hander is up to 10 saves this year, which is impressive considering he took over the closing job in mid-August and the Giants haven't exactly been a dominant team. He's added 22 holds with a 1.94 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 99:17 K:BB across 79 innings in his second major-league campaign.

Kilian (0-1) took the loss Monday, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits and four walks over 5.2 innings against the Phillies. He struck out three.

Kilian was called up earlier in the day and then tossed 5.2 innings in a bulk-relief role. It was his first major-league appearance of 2024 after having appeared in six big-league contests over the previous two seasons. Kilian has now allowed 28 earned runs across 22.1 career big-league innings.

Banks will serve as the Phillies' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Banks will be asked to work an inning or so before turning the ball over to a bulk reliever. Gelb notes that Kolby Allard or Taijuan Walker will likely be used in long relief Tuesday.

The Mariners optioned Diaz to their spring training complex Monday.

The move makes room on the Mariners' 28-man active roster for right-handed reliever Gregory Santos (biceps), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. Diaz had made two appearances for the big club since being recalled Sept. 1, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three over 3.1 scoreless innings.

Santos had been on the injured list since Aug. 2 due to right biceps inflammation. He began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma in early September, and across six outings he allowed one run on two hits and seven walks while striking out six across 5.1 frames. Santos has joined the Mariners in Houston and will operate out of the bullpen as Seattle makes a final push for a wild-card spot. To make room on the big-league roster for Santos, left-hander Jhonathan Diaz was optioned to the minors.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Sunday that he will "mix and match" at closer with Slaten and Chris Martin following the season-ending injury to Kenley Jansen (shoulder), Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Slaten has looked sharp since returning from his elbow injury last month, posting a 1.69 ERA and 12:2 K:BB over 10.2 innings covering 11 appearances. Cora indicated Sunday that he envisions the Rule 5 pick as a potential long-term closer option, and the 27-year-old could get a look in the role this week. Jansen is an impending free agent, so Boston will be looking for a new closer next season.

Martin stepped into the closer role for the Red Sox late last season after Jansen's campaign ended prematurely and will now be in the mix for saves again for the final week of this year. The veteran reliever has put up a 3.48 ERA and superb 48:2 K:BB over 41.1 innings out of Boston's bullpen this season.

The Cubs claimed Paredes off waivers from the Brewers on Monday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Paredes will remain in the division after the Brewers booted him from their 40-man roster after he posted a 1.74 ERA and 14:10 K:BB over 20.2 innings in the big leagues. The 28-year-old does not have any minor-league options remaining, so he will be added to the Cubs' 28-man active roster.

The Red Sox placed Jansen on the 15-day injured list Monday with right shoulder inflammation, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The move was reported Sunday and now the transaction is official, which ends Jansen's season. Jansen has battled through a shoulder problem throughout this month, and since the Red Sox are out of the playoff hunt, they have opted to go ahead and shut him down. The Red Sox will turn to Chris Martin and Justin Slaten as closer options over the final week of the season. Jansen will be a free agent this offseason and has likely thrown his last pitch for the Red Sox.
