  • Jesus Tinoco RP | MIA

Marlins' Jesus Tinoco: Claimed by Marlins

The Marlins claimed Tinoco off waivers from the Cubs on Tuesday.

After being DFA'd by the Cubs on Saturday, Tinoco will join a Marlins bullpen in need of extra depth following Tuesday's trade deadline. The 29-year-old righty has allowed nine earned runs in 14 innings in the majors this season, though he did not allow a run in four frames during his time with the Cubs. Braxton Garrett (forearm) was moved to the 60-day IL to clear space on the 40-man roster.

  • Yankees' Enyel De Los Santos: Acquired by Yankees

The Yankees acquired De Los Santos and right-hander Thomas Balboni from the Padres in exchange for outfielder Brandon Lockridge on Tuesday.

De Los Santos had a 4.46 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 48:13 K:BB over 40.1 innings for the Padres this season, but he was expendable with the club adding major bullpen pieces at the deadline. The right-handed journeyman had a 3.18 ERA in 120 outings for the Guardians across the previous two seasons, and he's likely to work in middle relief for the Yankees.

  • Gregory Soto RP | PIT

Orioles' Gregory Soto: Shipped to Baltimore

The Phillies traded Soto to the Orioles on Tuesday in exchange for Seth Johnson, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Soto owns a 4.08 ERA and 1.58 WHIP through 35.1 innings with the Phillies this season. He's capable of handling high-leverage situations, recording two saves and seven holds on the year, though he'll most likely handle middle relief while with the O's.

  • Joel Kuhnel RP | SF

Rays' Joel Kuhnel: Recalled after deadline

The Rays recalled Kuhnel from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Kuhnel was claimed by the Rays off waivers from the Brewers on July 23. The 29-year-old made two appearances for Durham, allowing three runs across two innings. The right-hander finds himself in the bigs as a replacement for Shawn Armstrong, who was acquired by the Cardinals from the Rays before Tuesday's trade deadline.

  • Brock Stewart RP | LAD

Twins' Brock Stewart: Headed for injured list

Stewart (undisclosed) is expected to be placed on the injured list Wednesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The move isn't official yet and his injury isn't clear, but it's not surprising given his struggles since his return from shoulder tendinitis on July 24 -- he's given up seven runs and seven hits in 2.1 innings over three outings with a 3:2 K:BB in that span.

  • Luis Garcia RP | MIN

Red Sox's Luis Garcia: Traded to Boston

The Red Sox acquired Garcia from the Angels on Tuesday for an unspecified return, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Garcia briefly stepped in as the Halos' closer after the departure of Carlos Estevez but has now been traded himself. The 37-year-old Garcia joined Anaheim on a one-year deal during the offseason and has a 3.71 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 40:14 over 43.2 innings this year. He should serve as a setup man to closer Kenley Jansen, while Ben Joyce is primed to take over as the Angels' closer.

  • Dylan Floro RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Dylan Floro: Snagged by Snakes

Floro was traded from the Nationals to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday in exchange for Andres Chaparro, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The 33-year-old righty had a 2.06 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 40 strikeouts in 52.1 innings with the Nationals. While Floro has 32 career saves, he should assume a mid-leverage role with his new team.

  • Cardinals' Shawn Armstrong: Acquired by St. Louis

The Cardinals acquired Armstrong from the Rays on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Dylan Carlson, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Armstrong was dominant in 2023 with a 1.38, 0.90 WHIP and 54:11 K:BB over 52 innings, but he's labored this season with 5.40 ERA in 38 appearances. The right-hander should primarily work in middle relief for the Cardinals.

  • Ryan Yarbrough RP | NYY

Blue Jays' Ryan Yarbrough: Dealt to Toronto

The Blue Jays acquired Yarbrough from the Dodgers on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

After being designated for assignment on Monday so that the Dodgers could make room on the roster for trade-deadline pickup Amed Rosario, Yarbrough will now get a chance to carve out a role for himself with the Blue Jays. The 32-year-old lefty has mostly worked out of the bullpen over the past three seasons and will presumably step into a long-relief role initially with his new organization, though the Blue Jays are lacking in back-end rotation depth and could end up giving Yarbrough a look in a starting role at some point. Yarbrough owns a 3.74 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 67.1 innings on the season, though he's given up 10 earned runs in just 15 innings since the beginning of July.

  • Tanner Banks RP | PHI

Phillies' Tanner Banks: Dealt to Philly

The White Sox traded Banks to the Phillies on Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Through 48 innings with the White Sox, Banks has posted a 4.13 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Chicago's lack of reliever depth has forced him to work often in high-leverage situations this season, though it's likely he moves into a middle-relief role upon joining a more talented Phillies bullpen.
