Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Back with big-league club

The Yankees recalled Marinaccio from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

The right-hander was optioned to Triple-A in early May despite posting a 1.42 ERA over 12.2 innings for the Yankees, and it was only a matter of time before he returned to the majors. Marinaccio also pitched well for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with a 1.17 ERA and 17:5 K:BB in 11 outings.

  • Logan Allen RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Logan Allen: DFA'd by Arizona

Allen was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Sunday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The 27-year-old surrendered six runs in one inning during Saturday's game against the Padres, and he's now been removed from the 26-man and 40-man rosters. Allen had a 3.67 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB over 27 innings this season prior to Saturday's implosion, so he could generate some interest on the waiver wire.

  • Matt Bowman RP | MIN

Mariners' Matt Bowman: Called up to big club

The Mariners selected Bowman's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.

Bowman signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday and threw two scoreless innings with Tacoma before getting the call to the big leagues. Seattle optioned Collin Snider to Triple-A Tacoma to open up room in the bullpen for Bowman.

  • Sammy Peralta RP | LAA

White Sox's Sammy Peralta: Joining big club

The White Sox selected the contract of Peralta from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

Peralta was DFA'd by the White Sox on May 28 after being claimed off waivers two days earlier. After being outrighted to Triple-A on May 30, Peralta has responded with three scoreless outings, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out five over 3.2 innings in that span. He'll provide left-handed depth out of the bullpen for the White Sox with southpaw Shane Drohan (shoulder) designated for assignment and right-hander Nick Nastrini optioned to Triple-A Charlotte in corresponding moves.

  • Carson Spiers SP | CIN

Reds' Carson Spiers: Back from Triple-A

The Reds recalled Spiers was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

The right-hander was optioned to Louisville in late May but will rejoin the Reds as Emilio Pagan (lat) heads to the injured list. Spiers has filled a long-relief role in his four outings for the Reds this season and has a 3.29 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB over 13.2 innings.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Out with lat strain

Pagan was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right lat strain.

The right-hander returned from the injured list Thursday after he recovered from a triceps injury, but the lat strain will force him back to the injured list. According to Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Reds manager David Bell said Sunday that Pagan is expected to be out through at least the All-Star break.

  • Braves' Daysbel Hernandez: Sent to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Hernandez to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

The 27-year-old was called up Saturday and will return to the minors after he delivered a scoreless frame versus the Nationals. Hernandez hasn't given up an earned run in three big-league outings this season and should receive another look with Atlanta at some point this summer.

  • Justin Wilson RP | BOS

    Reds' Justin Wilson: Records save

Wilson retired both batters he faced and recorded his first save in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

Lucas Sims was first to get the save opportunity, but he departed after allowing two Cubs to reach base. Enter Wilson, who induced a popout and a groundout to record his first save since September of 2019. Presumably, closer Alexis Diaz was unavailable after having thrown a combined 42 pitches Thursday and Friday. Wilson, who returned from the injured list last week, has a 5.93 ERA over 20 outings (13.2 innings) this season.

  • Lucas Sims RP | CHW

Reds' Lucas Sims: Gets another save opportunity

Sims allowed one hit and one walk over one-third of an inning in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

With Alexis Diaz presumably unavailable after throwing 42 pitches across back-to-back days, Sims was brought in for a save opportunity. He was unable to close out the win and was replaced by Justin Wilson, who nailed down his first save. Sims has a 4.43 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 26 outings (20.1 innings) in 2024.
