Romero (2-1) allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and struck out two over one inning, taking the loss and a blown save versus the Astros on Monday.

Romero allowed just two runs over 13 innings in May, but he won't fare as well in June after this brutal outing. He was responsible for an Alex Bregman solo shot and a two-run home run by Yainer Diaz as part of the Astros' comeback. Even with the poor appearance, Romero has a 2.10 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 30:4 K:BB with 18 holds and two blown saves through 30 innings. The southpaw is unlikely to be removed from a setup role after just one bad outing, so he should still be a steady source of holds and solid strikeout numbers.

Howard yielded two runs on four hits over 4.2 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out three during the loss to Arizona.

Both runs against Howard came during the second inning after he took over for Erik Miller, who opened the game with a scoreless frame. Howard found a groove and didn't face much of a threat after that second-inning hiccup. In two outings since being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento, he's posted a 7:0 K:BB and a 2.08 ERA through 8.2 innings. With Blake Snell (groin) back on the injured list, Howard could make another start or be used as a bulk reliever again later this week.

Estevez struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning and earned a save over the Padres on Monday.

Estevez needed only 10 pitches to quickly finish off the 2-1 victory. He's given up one earned run over his last 6.1 innings, lowering his season ERA to 4.50 through 18 frames. Estevez has converted three straight save chances and is now nine for 12 in those situations this season.

Hader earned a save against the Cardinals on Monday, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Entering with a 7-4 lead in the ninth inning, Hader needed only 14 pitches to secure his ninth save of the season. Hader has only allowed one run over his past 11 appearances and is now 9-for-10 in save attempts in 2024. He currently owns a 3.54 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 45:10 K:BB in 28 innings.

Brieske (1-0) tossed three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in Monday's 2-1 victory against the Rangers. He allowed one hit and struck out four.

After six solid innings from starter Tarik Skubal, Brieske came in and looked just as sharp as the team's ace. Brieske has been stellar so far for the Tigers, posting a 1.59 ERA across 11.1 innings, having been scored upon only once in six appearances. The righty's fantasy value is limited as a long reliever, though he'd get a boost if he sees more high-leverage work due to his strong play.

Alvarado picked up the save in Monday's 3-1 win over Milwaukee, striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning. He did not allow a baserunner.

Alvarado picked up his 10th save of the season, his first since May 21. The southpaw blew his first save of the season May 24 in Coors Field, but he has otherwise pitched well since his last save, recording a 1.50 ERA with six strikeouts and two holds over six innings of work.

Wilson (3-2) took the loss Monday against Philadelphia, allowing three earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out one in 5.2 innings of work out of the bullpen.

Jared Koenig opened the game for Milwaukee, pitching one scoreless inning before giving way to Wilson in the second. Wilson surrendered a solo home run to David Dahl in the fourth inning, marking the fifth consecutive game in which the right-hander has allowed a home run. The 26-year-old has been consistent in minimizing the damage, however, allowing three earned runs or fewer in all of those starts. Wilson has worked behind Jared Koenig in two of his last three appearances, and it remains to be seen if he will start his next time out, tentatively scheduled for this weekend in Detroit.

Koenig is expected to serve as the Brewers' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Koenig experienced success while opening a game for the third time this season in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Phillies. He needed just five pitches to retire the side in the bottom of the first inning before he turned the game over to bulk reliever Bryse Wilson. The Brewers will likely call on Koenig again Tuesday with the hope that he can get through the top three batters in Philadelphia's lineup before he hands the ball to bulk reliever Colin Rea.

Miller (elbow) will be activated from the 15-day injured list as soon as Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Miller is done with his rehab assignment and has already rejoined the Tigers in Texas for their series versus the Rangers, but his activation will have to wait at least one day. He's been out since mid-May with right ulnar nerve inflammation in his elbow.

Whitley (elbow) has resumed a throwing program at Triple-A Sugar Land, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Whitley landed on the 7-day injured list at Sugar Land in late April with a sore right elbow but is finally beginning the ramp-up process. He most recently threw a 20-pitch live batting practice session, so the right-hander wouldn't appear too far off from a return.
