Mederos allowed three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three over four innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Mederos gave up all three runs over the first two innings before settling in. He threw just 43 of 72 pitches for strikes, though he was pitching on short rest after taking the mound for Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. Mederos has a 5.63 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 7:7 K:BB across eight innings in the majors this year. This was his first big-league start, and it looks like the Angels may give him a longer look in the rotation. He is tentatively projected for a home start versus the Reds next week should he get another turn.

Leasure picked up the save in Tuesday's win over the Tigers, striking out the only batter he faced.

After Mike Vasil surrendered a three-run homer to Colt Keith in the ninth to trim Chicago's lead, Leasure was called on to face Spencer Torkelson and needed just five pitches to fan him and close out his fourth save of the season. The 26-year-old right-hander also has four blown saves this year and carries a 4.17 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 56:23 K:BB across 45.1 innings.

Gomez (2-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over five innings. He struck out seven.

Making his first major-league start, the 25-year-old right-hander set the tone early with three scoreless frames, keeping Detroit's bats quiet before Wenceel Perez broke through with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. The outing added to his growing body of work in the majors; he's now made 13 appearances this season, posting a 5.56 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB across 22.2 innings. Given his poise in a spot-start situation, Gomez could be in line for another turn in the rotation as the White Sox evaluate his role down the stretch.

Erceg secured his second save of the season in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Nationals after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.

Erceg was called upon for the save chance with Carlos Estevez having pitched each of the last three days. Erceg needed just seven pitches to retire the side, earning his first save since April 25. Estevez is second in baseball with 30 saves and will only give way if injured or unavailable. Erceg is sitting pretty behind him with a 2.52 ERA and 19 holds.

Martin (calf) experienced pain while throwing a live batting practice session Tuesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Martin was attempting to throw closer to full intensity while he faced live hitters Tuesday, but he soon felt irritation in the strained left calf that sent him to the injured list in late July. He will now slow down his rehab process to avoid injuring his calf further, which will push his expected return date further toward the end of August or possibly into September.

Vodnik allowed one hit and struck out three across 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the save Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Vodnik took over for starter Kyle Freeland in the eighth inning with runners on first and second, but he struck out both of the batters he faced to get out of the inning. He then had a routine ninth inning to earn his third save of the season. This was Colorado's first converted save since Seth Halvorsen (elbow) landed on the 15-day injured list, so Vodnik appears to be the team's top choice to handle closer duties. His ability to hang onto the role should be in question, however, as he has allowed at least one earned run in five of his last eight appearances.

The Marlins shut Tinoco (forearm) down from throwing Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Tinoco wasn't bouncing back from a throwing session the way the team had hoped, so Miami has shut him down for the time being. A new timeline for the 30-year-old's recovery should emerge once the Marlins re-evaluate him, though there's a good chance his setback will delay his return until late August or September.

Stewart was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation Tuesday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

Stewart last appeared in a contest Saturday, pitching a scoreless inning while allowing one walk and striking out a batter versus the Blue Jays. It's unclear if the shoulder inflammation was a result of that appearance, or if it was something he had previously been dealing with. Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that the team "caught it early," and that the reliever would undergo additional testing Wednesday.

Suarez (shoulder) began his rehab assignment Tuesday night at Double-A Chesapeake, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Tuesday's appearance marks Suarez's return to game action after he was placed on the injured list March 28. Although he served as the starter Tuesday, the Orioles are building the right-hander up for a bulk-relief role.

The Angels designated Anderson for assignment Tuesday.

Anderson surrendered four earned runs on four hits and recorded just two outs in his appearance Monday versus the Dodgers. He had been selected from Triple-A Salt Lake just prior to the game. In a corresponding move Tuesday, the Angels recalled Victor Mederos.
