Clase gave up one hit and struck out two during a scoreless inning to earn a save Tuesday against Seattle.

Clase took the mound with three runs of cushion, and the Guardians' lead was never threatened. He's now converted both of his save chances this season and could push for a third straight season of 40-plus saves. Clase is coming off a career-worst 3.22 ERA and 12 blown saves in 2023 after previously having not blown more than five in a single year.

Hernandez (lat) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

Hernandez struck out one over a scoreless inning in his first appearance with Round Rock. The plan is for him to make a handful of rehab appearances, including working on back-to-back day, before he rejoins the Rangers' bullpen.

Gage was released by the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Gage had been designated for assignment and the Dodgers have decided to cut him loose after he cleared waivers. The left-handed reliever holds a 1.83 ERA and 20:9 K:BB across 19.2 innings in the majors, so he shouldn't have trouble latching on in another organization.

Assad (1-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 12-2 rout of the Rockies, allowing four hits and a walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

The 26-year-old right-hander got staked to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, tossing 60 of 89 pitches for strikes as he delivered a quality start in his first trip to the mound this season. Assad posted solid numbers as a swingman last year, but with Jameson Taillon (back) not yet ready to make his 2024 debut and Justin Steele (hamstring) now out until May, he'll be needed in the rotation for at least the first month of the season. Assad lines up to make his next start early next week in San Diego.

Farmer allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out one over 1.2 innings in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to the Phillies.

Farmer entered in the middle of the seventh inning after Brent Suter gave up a grand slam to Bryce Harper. Farmer was touched for a home run, too, a solo shot by Brandon Marsh. This was the reliever's second appearance, and he's allowed home runs in each.

Suter allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits and one walk over one-third of an inning in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to Philadelphia.

Suter entered when the game was still in doubt -- the Reds trailed by two runs entering the seventh inning -- but he was hurt by an Elly De La Cruz throwing error and later a Bryce Harper grand slam. The lefty reliever had scoreless outings in his first three appearances before Tuesday.

Crochet (1-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings in a 3-2 victory over Atlanta. He struck out eight.

That's now back-to-back quality starts and back-to-back eight-strikeout performances for Crochet, as the left-hander makes the White Sox look like geniuses for moving him into the rotation. He blanked one of the most potent offenses in baseball for six innings before Marcell Ozuna finally tagged him for a solo shot in the seventh. Crochet left the mound having generated 18 swinging strikes on his 93 pitches, and through his first two career starts he sports a 1.38 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 16:1 K:BB through 13 innings. He tentatively lines up to make his next trip to the mound this weekend in Kansas City.

Lopez didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Matched up against the team he spent most of his big-league career with, Lopez blanked Chicago for five innings before fading a bit in the sixth, putting the first two batters aboard to set up an RBI single for Gavin Sheets. Lopez threw 82 pitches (52 strikes) en route to his first quality start since 2021, and the outing was a very encouraging beginning to his return to the rotation after a couple years working in short relief. The right-hander lines up to make his next start early next week at home against the Mets.

McGough struck out two over a scoreless inning and earned his first hold in Tuesday's 7-0 win over the Yankees.

McGough is out of the gate with three scoreless outings covering four innings. He's expected to get work in the latter third of games.

Garcia earned the save over the Marlins on Tuesday after allowing one run on one hit and a walk in the ninth inning. He struck out a batter as well.

Garcia was called upon to protect a 3-0 lead in the ninth with usual closer Carlos Estevez presumably unavailable after pitching each of the last two days. Garcia served up a solo blast to Bryan De La Cruz but was able to close the door without any further harm. Garcia's now given up runs in both appearances though it appears he still has his manager's trust in late-game situations for now.
