  • Giants' Carson Seymour: Receiving another start

Seymour is slated to start Friday's game against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

He'll be making his second straight turn through the rotation despite underwhelming in his first MLB start this past Saturday, when he took a loss to the Orioles after giving up four earned runs on five hits and two walks over three innings. Altogether, Seymour holds a 4.74 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB across 24.2 frames in the big leagues. Keeping the ball in the yard has proven to be a challenge for the righty, who has already yielded eight home runs.

  • Josh Simpson RP | SEA

Marlins' Josh Simpson: Recalled from Triple-A

The Marlins recalled Simpson from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

Simpson (2-2) has appeared in 23 games out of the Miami bullpen this season and has an ugly 8.87 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 24:16 K:BB across 22.1 innings of work. He'll likely fill a middle-relief role for the Marlins.

  • Dillon Tate RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Dillon Tate: Sent back to Buffalo

The Blue Jays optioned Tate to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Tate has appeared in six games out of the bullpen for Toronto this season, registering a 4.26 ERA, 2.21 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB across 6.1 innings of work. The Blue Jays recalled Braydon Fisher in a corresponding move.

  • Blue Jays' Braydon Fisher: Recalled from Triple-A

The Blue Jays recalled Fisher from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Fisher has twirled 5.1 shutout innings since he was demoted to Triple-A on Aug. 20. In a corresponding move, Toronto optioned Dillon Tate to Buffalo.

  • Brant Hurter P | DET

Tigers' Brant Hurter: Rehab assignment pending

Hurter (back) could start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo this weekend, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Hurter was sent down to Triple-A on Aug. 17 and was placed on the injured list with back soreness without making an appearance for Toledo. The 26-year-old has posted a 2.45 ERA in 58.2 innings with the Tigers this season, and once healthy, he's expected to rejoin the big-league bullpen for the tail end of the regular season.

  • Marlins' Valente Bellozo: Making start Friday

Bellozo is slated to start Friday's game against the Phillies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Bellozo opened the season as a starter for Miami, but despite turning in a 3.27 ERA in 22 innings over his first five outings, he was dispatched to the bullpen in mid-May. With injuries having piled up in the Miami rotation of late, Bellozo will now get the chance to pick up his sixth start of the season, but he could be headed back to a relief role after Friday's contest. In his most recent appearance this part Friday against the Mets, Bellozo tossed 4.1 innings and 65 pitches out of the bullpen, so he should be able to provide the Marlins with a decent amount of length in his first start since May 13.

  • Kyle Finnegan RP | DET

Tigers' Kyle Finnegan: Headed to IL

The Tigers placed Finnegan on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Sept. 1, with a right adductor strain, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Finnegan suffered the injury while warming up in the bullpen Wednesday, and he'll require a stint on the injured list. Finnegan hasn't allowed a run since being traded from the Nationals to the Tigers, logging a 19:3 K:BB across 14.1 innings. Tommy Kahnle and Tyler Holton should serve in a setup role for closer Will Vest. Parker Meadows (quadriceps) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Dan Altavilla RP | MIN

White Sox's Dan Altavilla: Reinstated from injured list

The White Sox activated Altavilla (lat) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Altavilla was sidelined for just over a month with a right lat strain but is ready to go after making four rehab appearances with Triple-A Charlotte. The veteran righty had been seeing some high-leverage usage before getting hurt but could be eased back into such situations.

  • Cam Sanders RP | PIT

Pirates' Cam Sanders: Returns to Triple-A

The Pirates optioned Sanders to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Sanders will return to the Triple-A level as Kyle Nicolas returns from the bereavement list. Sanders has allowed five runs in five innings over five appearances with the Pirates this season, though all five of his earned runs came in one outing.

  • Kyle Nicolas RP | CIN

Pirates' Kyle Nicolas: Activated from bereavement list

The Pirates activated Nicolas from the bereavement list Friday.

Nicolas has rejoined the team after taking a temporary leave. Pittsburgh optioned Cam Sanders to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Nicolas has a 5.14 ERA in 28 innings out of the bullpen with the Pirates this season.
