Kinley (0-3) took the loss in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Padres. He allowed two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning.

Kinley stepped into the game in the bottom of the ninth with the score 0-0 and managed to strike out two of the first three batters he faced. However, Xander Bogaerts tagged him for a two-run shot to walk it off for the Padres and give Kinley his third loss of 2023. Kinely has yielded mixed results over his last four outings, logging a pair of scoreless saves while giving up four total runs across his other two appearances, including a blown save and Tuesday's loss.

Hader (1-3) earned his first win of the season in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Colorado. He allowed two hits with no strikeouts over a scoreless inning.

Hader inherited a combined no-hitter when entering the game after Blake Snell and Robert Suarez held the Rockies at bay for the first eight frames. While the no-hit bid was scratched after Hader gave up a leadoff single to Brendan Rodgers, the closer managed to keep the Rockies from scoring and eventually nabbed his first win of 2023. Over his last four appearances (3.1 innings), Hader has surrendered one run on seven hits with a 2:2 K:BB.

Snider worked a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his first career save in a 7-6 win over the Guardians.

The Royals continue to mix and match high-leverage relief options as they take a look at bullpen options for 2024. Taylor Clarke, who picked up two saves last weekend, combined with Carlos Hernandez to work the seventh inning, while James McArthur handled the eighth after getting the job done in a save situation Monday. Snider hasn't done much since being called back up in late August to suggest he's well-suited for the closer role, posting a 4:4 K:BB through 9.2 innings, but his 2.79 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over that stretch are at least solid.

Leclerc picked up the save Tuesday against the Red Sox. He struck out one over a perfect inning.

Leclerc was handed the ball for the ninth inning Tuesday, following up Aroldis Chapman's 1.2 shutout innings, and delivered his third save of the season. He bounced back from a blown save in his last appearance and appears to still be in contention with Chapman and Will Smith for ninth-inning duties. In 52 appearances this season, Leclerc owns a 2.98 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 58:27 K:BB.

Chapman (6-4) struck out three over 1.2 innings to earn Tuesday's win over the Red Sox.

Texas manager Bruce Bochy, who told Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News on Tuesday afternoon that he's trying to avoid using Chapman for more than one inning, did just that. Chapman entered the seventh inning with Boston rallying and ended the threat. The reliever managed a perfect eighth before Jose Leclerc picked up the save. The bullpen has blown leads late in two recent games, as Bochy avoided bringing Chapman in before the ninth inning. However, the manager altered course Tuesday, saying "we've got find a way to win ballgames." Bochy perhaps took that approach because the Rangers' bullpen has an AL-worst 6.38 ERA since Aug. 16.

Lange (7-5) took the loss and a blown save in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers, allowing one run on three hits, a walk and a hit batsman over one inning.

Lange entered in the eighth inning and allowed a runner inherited from Jason Foley to score the tying run. In the ninth, Lange gave up a walk-off single to Max Muncy to complete the collapse. Lange has blown saves in two of his last three appearances. He's now at a 3.92 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 74:44 K:BB through 62 innings this season while going 24-for-30 in save chances.

Holton allowed a run on two hits and struck out two without walking a batter over 3.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Alex Faedo (finger) was initially lined up for bulk innings Tuesday, but he was placed on the injured list. Holton did a decent job in his longest outing of the season, limiting the damage to J.D. Martinez's fourth-inning solo home run. Holton has pitched well this year with a 2.13 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 70:17 K:BB through 80.1 innings over 55 appearances (one start). He could continue to be an option as a bulk reliever over the final two weeks of the season.

Wood allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings during Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.

Alex Cobb lasted two innings before his hip injury flared up again. Wood was able to provide bulk innings in relief, throwing 47 of 82 pitches for strikes. With the Giants fading in the National League playoff race, Cobb's injury comes at a bad time for the team. Wood may be a candidate to fill the gap in the rotation, either as a traditional starter or bulk reliever -- he's functioned in the latter role often this year. Wood has a 4.60 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 68:39 K:BB through 92 innings over 27 appearances (12 starts) this season. Cobb's spot in the rotation would come up Sunday against the Dodgers, but the Giants' pitching plans are likely to be up in the air until more information on the injury is available.

Scott (9-5) blew the save, but picked up the win anyway Tuesday against the Mets. He allowed two runs on three hits over one inning.

The 29-year-old was unable to preserve Miami's two-run, ninth-inning lead Tuesday, surrendering three hits and two runs to blow the save opportunity. Luckily for Scott, Jake Burger notched a walk-off base hit in the bottom of the inning, earning Scott the vulture victory. After seven consecutive scoreless outings, the southpaw has allowed runs in each of his last two appearances. Scott is now 9-for-13 in his save chances this season, with a 2.44 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 96:24 K:BB across 73.2 innings.

The Tigers recalled White from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

White has put up a 5.09 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 40.2 innings in the majors this season, and he'll return to Detroit's bullpen following the placement of Alex Faedo (finger) on the 15-day injured list. White will likely serve in middle relief to close out the season.
