Sandlin (5-3) allowed a run on two hits and struck out one over one inning to pick up the win Wednesday over the Royals.

Sandlin worked the fifth inning after starter Gavin Williams was inefficient over four scoreless frames (87 pitches). While Sandlin has struggled lately, giving up six runs over his last four innings, he's picked up two holds and a win in that span. He's at a 3.63 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 43:14 K:BB through 39.2 innings while continuing to fill a versatile role in the Guardians' bullpen.

Nance (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with the Marlins' Florida Complex League affiliate on Wednesday.

Nance allowed a hit and a walk but struck out three over two scoreless innings in his first outing with the FCL Marlins. The righty reliever has been out all season with shoulder issues, having had to be shut down after one appearance in his initial rehab assignment back in May. He'll need to avoid more setbacks this time around and figures to need a handful of outings before being an option for the major-league bullpen.

Jackson (elbow) began a rehab assignment with Low-A Stockton on Wednesday.

Jackson struck out a pair in a perfect inning in his first game action in more than two months. The reliever should move up to a higher affiliate soon and wouldn't appear far off from rejoining the Athletics' bullpen.

Joyce (elbow) was transferred Thursday from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

This is a procedural move to clear out a 40-man roster spot following the Angels' trade Wednesday for Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez. Joyce has been out since June 10 and will be sidelined through at least mid-August due to ulnar neuritis in his right elbow.

Weiss was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday and will serve as the Angels' 27th man for the team's doubleheader with the Tigers, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Weiss will be available only for the second game and will presumably be returned to Salt Lake prior to the Angels' weekend series in Toronto. He's previously made five relief appearances with Los Angeles this season, logging a 3.86 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 4.2 innings.

Voth (elbow) will move up to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday as he continues his rehab assignment, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Voth has been out since mid-June with right elbow discomfort but seems to be nearing a return. The 31-year-old has collected a 4.94 ERA over 23 relief appearances with the Orioles this season.

Silseth is no longer set to start Thursday, as the Angels will instead have Shohei Ohtani and Patrick Sandoval start Games 1 and 2, respectively, of the team's series-ending doubleheader in Detroit, MLB.com reports.

After Wednesday's game was postponed due to inclement weather, Silseth and Patrick Sandoval -- who had been scheduled to start Wednesday -- were initially announced as the team's starters for the twin bill. However, the Angels later reversed course and moved Shohei Ohtani up from his start Friday in Toronto to start Thursday. The change may have been related to the Angels' acquisition Wednesday of Lucas Giolito, who is expected to settle into the Los Angeles rotation right away and will likely make his team debut during the Toronto series. The arrival of Giolito now gives the Halos seven starters, and Silseth will most likely find himself as the odd man out if manager Phil Nevin elects to maintain a six-man rotation moving forward. The Angels haven't clarified their plans for Silseth, who could move to the bullpen or perhaps return to Triple-A Salt Lake to stay on a regular starting schedule.

Soto struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his second save of the season in a 6-4 win over the Orioles.

Craig Kimbrel got the call in the eighth inning against the heart of Baltimore's order, while Soto faced the 6-7-8 hitters for the O's en route to his first save since mid-May. While the left-hander does appear to be manager Rob Thomson's second choice for save chances, Kimbrel's spot as closer doesn't seem to be in any jeopardy. Since the beginning of June, Soto has posted a 2.70 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB through 16.2 innings while collecting six holds and a win in addition to Wednesday's save.

Tarnok served as the opener in Wednesday's loss to the Giants and allowed three runs on three hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He struck out four and uncorked a wild pitch.

Tarnok took the next step in his 2023 acclimation process after a significantly delayed debut due to a shoulder strain, but he turned in an uneven performance. The right-hander needed 49 pitches to record eight outs, and only 29 of those offerings found the strike zone. Tarnok worked himself into trouble early as well, surrendering a two-run home run to J.D. Davis in the first inning that set the stage for the ragged outing. The fact Tarnok got the call as an opener following a pair of relief appearances to open the season could be indicative of a potential rotation audition down the road, but manager Mark Kotsay likely wants to see the 24-year-old get his feet under him a bit more before going that route.

Bard (4-2) allowed four earned runs on four walks and one hit while striking out none across 0.2 innings to blow the save and take the loss Wednesday against the Nationals.

Justin Lawrence had pitched in three of the last five days entering Wednesday's game, likely leaving him unavailable for the matchup. As a result, Bard got the chance to close out the game with a three-run lead, however, he allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base and was charged with four earned runs despite letting only one ball leave the infield. He has turned in scoreless appearances in seven of nine tries in July, though control of the zone continues to be a major problem as he has a 6:8 K:BB across 10 frames in that span.
