Fairbanks struck out two without allowing a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Tuesday against the Marlins.

Fairbanks was called upon to protect a three-run lead, and he did so with little issue. He's allowed an earned run in three of his last 10 appearances, which resulted in losses. Fairbanks has been excellent otherwise in that stretch, racking up 15:4 K:BB to go with a 0.96 WHIP. He should remain the Rays' preferred closer.

Crochet (shoulder) is feeling better and is projected to return from the injured list in early August, MLB.com reports.

Crochet was taken off a rehab assignment July 21, though he quickly recovered from soreness in his shoulder. There has been no word on the resumption of his rehab assignment, but the team remains hopeful that he'll be able to contribute out of the bullpen for roughly the final two months of the campaign.

Sborz (biceps) will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Sborz, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with right biceps tendinitis July 15, played catch Tuesday. The right-hander had become an important bullpen piece over the last month before the injury flared up.

Legumina (shoulder) threw a side session Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Legumina is currently on a throwing program at the team's training complex in Goodyear, Arizona. The program was interrupted July 18 when the right-hander was hit on the head by an errant throw, which forced him to skip a session. Reds manager David Bell estimated Legumina might need up to 10 days on a rehab assignment before he's activated.

Rogers (4-4) allowed a run on two hits and struck out two without walking a batter over two innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Athletics.

Rogers allowed the game-tying run in the top of the eighth inning before the Giants took the lead back a half-inning later. He's been scored on in five of his nine appearances in July, but he's collected two wins and three holds while taking just one blown save over 9.2 innings this month. For the season, the setup man has a 2.29 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB through 51 innings while racking up 21 holds and two saves.

Doval struck out three in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Athletics.

Doval has pitched seven scoreless innings in a row, converting a save in each of his seven appearances in that span. He's tossed a perfect inning four times in that stretch, and he retook the major-league lead in saves with his 31st of the season Tuesday. The Giants' closer has a 2.35 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 62:18 K:BB through 46 innings this season.

Romero (2-1) allowed two runs on two hits over one inning to take the loss Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks.

Romero was perfect in the seventh inning, but manager Oliver Marmol left him in to begin the eighth. That ended up being a costly mistake, as Romero surrendered two hits and Chris Stratton would go on to give up a tiebreaking two-run triple. Romero has given up a pair of runs in each of his last two appearances, bringing his recent 7.1-inning scoreless streak to a screeching halt. The southpaw is at 4.12 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB through 19.2 innings, but he likely remains the Cardinals' top lefty reliever over Andrew Suarez.

Sewald picked up the save Tuesday against Minnesota. He allowed one run on one hit over one inning. He didn't record a strikeout.

Though Sewald managed to nab his 20th save of the season, he allowed a run for a second consecutive appearance, serving up a solo homer to Michael Taylor in the ninth. However, Sewald had three runs of cushion when entering the ballgame and moved up to 11th in MLB in saves. Though he hasn't been one of the most efficient closers in baseball (3.00 ERA), Sewald is locked into ninth-inning duties for the Mariners.

Ginkel allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Cardinals.

Ginkel erased his lone mistake with a double play to earn his third save of the season. All of those saves have come within his last four outings as he establishes himself in the closer conversation. The 29-year-old has limited high-leverage experience with 19 holds and four saves over the previous four seasons, and he picked up just one hold in 2023 prior to his recent run of late-inning work. Ginkel has pitched well enough to earn the more prevalent role, posting a 2.31 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB through a career-high 39 innings this season.

Diaz allowed a hit and a hit-by-pitch but recorded the final out to earn the save Tuesday against the Brewers.

The Reds closer was called upon with two outs in the ninth inning after Daniel Duarte was unable to maintain a 4-0 lead. Diaz struggled to record the final out, as he gave up an infield single and plunked Willy Adames in the head before inducing a flyout to end the game. The right-hander secured his 30th save of the season in the end, but he's now allowed two runs on five hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch while recording just four outs over his past three outings. Diaz has made seven appearances in the last 10 days, which could prompt manager David Bell to look elsewhere should a save opportunity arise Wednesday.
