Ryan Brasier RP | TEX
Red Sox's Ryan Brasier: Suffers loss Sunday
Brasier (0-2) was tagged with Sunday's loss, allowing four runs on three hits and one walk while striking out three over one inning against the Rangers.
Brasier was victimized by Adolis Garcia and Kole Calhoun, who back-to-back home runs off the righty reliever. He's pitched well out of the bullpen until this last week. Brasier's 2.45 ERA blew up 6.57 after giving up six runs on three home runs in his last two appearances. Brasier's allowed four jacks over 12.1 innings (2.9 HR/9).

Mark Melancon RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Mark Melancon: Role being evaluated
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said discussions are ongoing about Melancon remaining the team's closer, Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic reports.
Melancon was unavailable to pitch Sunday after appearing in three of the last four games, so Ian Kennedy entered the ninth inning with the score tied. Lovullo has used Melancon in tie games before, including a pair of epic losses last week, but was not prepared to answer the question about a role change. "We're going to still have some more discussions about his availability," Lovullo said. "You know, he's had a heavy workload, he was on (the injured COVID list) for a short period of time. I was probably asking a little too much too soon. So I'll take a little bit of the blame for what he did three out of four, but I don't know that answer right now." Should there be a change, Kennedy is the most likely to serve as closer.

Josh Staumont RP | CIN
Royals' Josh Staumont: Snares win Sunday
Staumont (1-0) allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the win Sunday versus the Rockies.
The Royals' six-run lead evaporated in the seventh inning, but Staumont kept the deficit to one in the eighth. Salvador Perez hit a two-run single in the ninth to put Staumont in line for the win, and Scott Barlow was able to finish off the save. In his last eight outings, Staumont has surrendered four runs, nine hits and four walks. His win Sunday was his first decision of the year to go with two saves, two blown saves and a hold, and he's logged a 3.95 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB in 13.2 innings.

Daniel Bard RP | COL
Rockies' Daniel Bard: Charged with blown save
Bard (1-1) allowed two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one in one inning to take the loss and the blown save Sunday against the Royals.
After tossing eight scoreless innings while converting seven saves between April 15 and May 7, Bard has struggled over his last two outings. During that time, he's allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out two in 1.1 innings. The Rockies came back from a 6-0 deficit by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Sunday, but Bard let the lead slip away in the ninth. In spite of his recent struggles, the right-hander has built up decent job security as Colorado's closer by converting all but two of his 11 save chances this season.

Scott Barlow RP | ATH
Royals' Scott Barlow: Earns fourth save Sunday
Barlow struck out one in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Sunday's win over the Rockies.
The right-hander picked up just one save during the first month of the season, but he has a 1.15 ERA this year and has been rewarded with saves in three of his last four outings. While Josh Staumont appeared to be the favorite for ninth-inning work in April, Barlow seems to have reclaimed the closing duties since the start of May, and he's converted four of five save chances in 2022.

Emilio Pagan RP | CIN
Twins' Emilio Pagan: Notches fifth save
Pagan allowed one hit in a scoreless inning during Sunday's win over the Guardians. He struck out one and earned the save.
Pagan gave up a two-out double to Amed Rosario but finished off a scoreless frame with just 10 pitches. The 31-year-old has now converted five out of six save chances with a 1.54 ERA this season. Pagan threw an inning in each of the last three games, so he'll likely be unavailable Monday against Oakland.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Pirates' David Bednar: Picks up seventh save
Bednar tossed a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Sunday's win over the Reds.
Bednar failed to record a strikeout during an appearance for the first time this year during Sunday's outing, but he still picked up his fifth save in his last six appearances. The right-hander has converted all seven of his save chances while posting a 1.00 ERA, 25:3 K:BB and 0.61 WHIP in 18 innings over 15 appearances this season. Chris Stratton has also taken on some ninth-inning duties early in the season, but Bednar appears to be the current favorite for save chances.

Elieser Hernandez RP | ATL
Marlins' Elieser Hernandez: Falls to 2-3
Hernandez (2-3) yielded five runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks over four innings Sunday, striking out two and taking the loss against Milwaukee.
Hernandez gave up just one run on a Luis Urias sacrifice fly through four innings. He opened the fifth by allowing back-to-back homers to Jace Peterson and Kolten Wong. He put two more Brewers on base without recording an out and was charged with both runs while Louis Head was on the mound. Hernandez lowered his ERA to 6.15 with a 30:11 K:BB through 33.2 innings. He's currently lined up to face the Braves at home next weekend.

Yunior Marte RP | CIN
Giants' Yunior Marte: Recalled by San Francisco
Marte was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Marte was sent down at the beginning of May, but he'll rejoin the Giants after spending two weeks in the minors. The righty should pitch mainly in low-leverage situations after he posted a 7.04 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 7.2 innings over eight relief appearances in the majors to begin the year.

Alex Reyes RP | LAD
Cardinals' Alex Reyes: Shut down from throwing
Reyes (shoulder) experienced renewed soreness when throwing this week and has been shut down, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
The 27-year-old resumed throwing in late April after beginning the season on the 60-day injured injured list, but he'll halt his rehab program after the soreness cropped up. Reyes underwent an MRI and is seeking a second opinion, leaving his availability for the rest of the season in question.
