    Rockies' Nick Anderson: Signs with Rockies

    Anderson signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Friday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

    Anderson opted out of his minor-league deal with the Cardinals and will now attempt to create a role for himself within the Rockies organization. The 34-year-old righty produced a 6.20 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 20.1 innings at Triple-A Memphis and will likely need to improve upon those numbers before getting a shot to pitch in Colorado's bullpen.

    Cubs' Drew Pomeranz: Serving as opener Saturday

    Pomeranz will serve as the Cubs' opening pitcher for Saturday's game against the Reds, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

    Pomeranz is likely to work the first inning before giving way to right-hander Ben Brown, who is expected to operate as a bulk reliever, per Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com. Since being promoted from Triple-A Iowa on April 23, Pomeranz has yet to allow a run over 12.2 innings with Chicago and owns a 0.55 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB.

    Reds' Emilio Pagan: Converts 14th save

    Pagan earned the save in Friday's 6-2 win over the Cubs, striking out one while recording the final two outs of the ninth inning.

    Pagan entered with runners on second and third and needed just eight pitches to close out the game, recording a strikeout and a groundout. The 34-year-old has allowed seven runs over his last 10 appearances but has still nailed down six straight saves. On the season, he owns a 3.86 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB across 25.2 innings while securing 14 of 16 save opportunities.

  • Diamondbacks' Sean Reid-Foley: Joins Arizona on MiLB deal

    Reid-Foley agreed to a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

    The right-hander parted ways with the Mets last week and will now test his luck with the Diamondbacks. Reid-Foley struggled in his 15 outings at the Triple-A level this season with an 8.36 ERA, 2.43 WHIP and 24:14 K:BB over 14 innings.

    Orioles' Albert Suarez: Extends throwing distance

    Suarez (shoulder) extended his throwing distance off flat ground to 105 feet Friday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

    Suarez started up his throwing program earlier in May and is now extending his distance, and he could progress to bullpen sessions in the near future. The right-hander landed on the shelf with a shoulder strain after his season debut March 28, and he'll likely require multiple rehab appearances in the minors once cleared for game action.

  • Brewers' Carlos Rodriguez: Undergoing tests on forearm

    Rodriguez is undergoing tests for forearm discomfort after leaving his start for Triple-A Nashville early Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

    This is an ominous sign for Rodriguez, who was making his first appearance Thursday after saving the MLB staff by coming back in to pitch after nearly a two-hour rain delay May 22.

    Red Sox's Nick Burdi: Rejoins MLB club

    The Red Sox recalled Burdi from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

    The right-hander will join the Red Sox ahead of Friday's series opener in Atlanta with Liam Hendriks (hip) headed to the injured list. Burdi has allowed four hits over 2.1 scoreless frames in his two big-league appearances this season and should fill a low-leverage relief role while up with Boston.

    Red Sox's Liam Hendriks: To IL with hip injury

    Hendriks was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with right hip inflammation, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

    Hendriks has reportedly been pitching through this issue in recent weeks while logging a 19.64 ERA and 2.18 WHIP over his last five appearances. The move is retroactive to May 28, so Hendriks will be eligible to return June 13 against the Yankees.

  • Mets' Brandon Waddell: Returns to Triple-A

    The Mets optioned Waddell to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

    The left-hander allowed four runs over five relief innings Wednesday against the White Sox, and he'll head to the minors in favor of a fresh bullpen arm. Waddell has a 3.86 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 7:1 K:BB in his two big-league appearances this season.

    Mets' Chris Devenski: Promoted Friday

    The Mets recalled Devenski from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

    The veteran right-hander was up with the Mets for one day earlier in the season and is now back in the majors. Devenski gave up two runs over two frames in his lone outing but has a 1.96 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB over 18.1 innings for Syracuse this year.
