Casparius (6-2) took the loss against the Royals on Saturday, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts over four innings.

Casparius generated an impressive 13 whiffs on 85 pitches but was ultimately undone by a four-run fifth inning. While he entered the outing with back-to-back wins, the 26-year-old has now allowed 11 earned runs over 12.2 innings in three consecutive appearances working behind Shohei Ohtani. Casparius carries a 3.97 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 54:12 K:BB across 56.2 innings this season and could pitch behind Ohtani again in a home matchup with the Astros next weekend.

Perkins allowed one hit and two walks over 3.1 scoreless innings of relief Saturday to record his first career save in a 7-0 win over the Yankees. He struck out three.

The rookie right-hander has been outstanding over his first two big-league appearances, firing 6.1 scoreless innings with a 5:2 K:BB. Both outings have come in relief of JP Sears, who has a 5.09 ERA on the season even after Saturday's combined shutout. The fact that the A's are keeping Perkins stretched out and on the same schedule as the southpaw could be a sign the team plans to have him move into the rotation in Sears' spot sooner rather than later.

Mattison (elbow) was reinstated from Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list Saturday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.

Mattison's recovery from Tommy John surgery is officially complete, as he's been activated from the Triple-A injured list 15 months after the procedure. The 25-year-old made nine appearances between Single-A and High-A during his rehab assignment, and he allowed seven runs with a 9:8 K:BB across 10.1 innings.

The Phillies optioned Rangel to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

Rangel pitched five scoreless innings of relief Friday, but he'll return to Lehigh Valley so the Phillies can add a fresh arm to the bullpen in Daniel Robert. Rangel owns a 4.96 ERA in 69 innings at Lehigh Valley this season.

The Phillies recalled Robert from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

Robert will return to the Phillies' active roster Saturday after just under a three-week stint at Lehigh Valley, taking Alan Rangel's spot in the bullpen. In 11.2 innings with Lehigh Valley, Robert has a 3.14 ERA and a 16:2 K:BB.

McKenzie was removed from Saturday's start in the Arizona Complex League after two-thirds of an inning due to illness, SI.com reports.

McKenzie has been with the Guardian's rookie-level squad since the end of May, and he's struggled to a 6.75 ERA in six appearances. He couldn't improve upon his stats Saturday, getting lifted after two-thirds of an inning due to the ailment. The 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day.

The Astros optioned Hernandez to Triple-A Sugar Land following Friday's game against the Cubs.

The move makes room on the Astros' 26-man roster for Lance McCullers (foot), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Saturday. Hernandez made two appearances out of the Astros' bullpen after being recalled June 18 and allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two across two innings. He's had more success in Triple-A this season, posting a 1.74 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 42:13 K:BB across 31 innings.

Thomas is scheduled for season-ending elbow surgery July 16, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Thomas landed on the IL in early April due to a left elbow injury, but he was able to begin a rehab assignment in late May. However, the lefty reliever suffered a setback after his first rehab appearance and is now set to go under the knife, which will end his 2025 campaign. Thomas got into two games with the Brewers this season in his initial MLB cup of coffee, allowing 12 runs with a 5:2 K:BB over 5.1 innings.

The Diamondbacks selected Curtiss's contract from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

Curtiss signed a minor-league deal with Arizona in February and has posted a 6.34 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB over 32.2 innings with Reno this season. While those numbers are poor, the righty has been better of late, tossing 3.2 scoreless frames over his past three outings. To make room for Curtiss on the 26-man and 40-man rosters, the Diamondbacks designated fellow reliever Tayler Scott for assignment.

The Red Sox transferred Slaten (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

The move to the 60-day IL means that Slaten will not return to the majors until late July. The move isn't all that surprising, considering the 27-year-old right-hander was recently cleared to start a throwing program as he works through right shoulder inflammation. In corresponding moves, Boston placed Luis Guerrero (elbow) on the 15-day IL and reinstated Chris Murphy (elbow) from the 60-day IL.
