Williams was removed from his start Tuesday against the Twins due to right knee soreness, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Williams was pulled after falling down on an awkward delivery during the first inning. There's been no word on the severity of Williams' injury, but the Guardians will likely provide more information in the near future. The 24-year-old holds a 3.52 ERA and 1.28 WHIP across 64 innings in the majors this season.

Kirby was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday against Oakland due to an illness, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Luke Weaver will fill in as Seattle's starting pitcher Tuesday, and it is unclear whether or not Kirby will be able to make his next start -- tentatively scheduled for Monday against Cincinnati. For now, Kirby should be considered day-to-day.

The White Sox placed Clevinger on waivers Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Clevinger has been solid through 18 starts for the White Sox this season, posting a 3.32 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 97.2 innings. However, the White Sox will pass him through waivers -- likely in an effort to save money -- and Clevinger can now be picked up by any team looking to add to their rotation ahead of the postseason.

Wentz is expected to be called up by the Tigers to pitch Wednesday against the Yankees, either as a starter or behind an opener, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Pressreports.

The 25-year-old has a 6.62 ERA in 19 appearances (17 starts) for Detroit this season, and it appears he'll receive another look in the majors this week. Wentz already joined the big-league club Tuesday, though he'll still need to be officially added to the active roster ahead of Wednesday's contest.

Manning (back) is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Yankees, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The 25-year-old originally lined up to take the mound Wednesday, but Joey Wentz is instead poised to pitch. Manning exited his most recent start last Friday with a stinger in his lower back, but the issue won't prevent him from making his next turn through the rotation. The right-hander has pitched well in his past three starts with just one earned run allowed across 17.2 frames.

Paddack (elbow) said Tuesday that he'll begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Fort Myers on Sept. 6, John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Paddack has spent all season on the 60-day injured list while working his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in May 2022. He's been facing live hitters since the start of August and is set to throw a three-inning sim game at the team's complex in Florida this week. There's been no indication on how long Paddack's assignment could last, but there's a chance the 27-year-old righty is able to rejoin the Minnesota bullpen in a multi-inning relief role in time for the team's playoff push.

The Angels waived Giolito on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Giolito was one of five players that the Angels waived Tuesday in an effort dump some salary. The 29-year-old righty was traded from the White Sox to Los Angeles shortly before the trade deadline and put up a 6.89 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 32.2 innings with the Angels. Despite his poor performance as of late, Giolito will likely be claimed by another team looking for rotation depth down the stretch.

Keuchel will re-enter the Minnesota rotation after Bailey Ober was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Ober has struggled in the second half and the Twins have sent him down to the minors both for performance- and workload-related reasons. With Ober out of the picture, Keuchel -- who hasn't allowed a run in his last two appearances (one start) -- will get a longer look as the Twins' No. 5 starter. The veteran left-hander is tentatively lined up to start Sunday in Arlington against the Rangers.

Mize (elbow) reported no issues after throwing a 20-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, MLB.com reports. "It's good to have a hitter in the box again," said Mize, who will look to throw more pitches in his next session in a few days.

The 26-year-old faced hitters for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery and back surgery last summer. According to manager A.J. Hinch, Mize looked "exceptional" during the session, with the right-hander sporting a fastball that hovered around the mid-90s and also mixing in sharp-breaking curveballs. Mize could need at least a couple more live sessions before getting cleared to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment. He could have a chance to pitch in the big leagues before the season ends Oct. 1, but if that comes to fruition, the Tigers may deploy him as a reliever or as an opening pitcher rather than a traditional starter.

Manning (back) had been scheduled to throw a bullpen session Monday and expects to be ready to make his next start Wednesday against the Yankees at Comerica Park, MLB.com reports.

Manning dealt with what he described as a "stinger" in his lower back during his most recent outing this past Friday against Houston, during which he struck out three while allowing one unearned run on one hit and no walks over 6.1 innings. According to Evan Woodbery of MLive.com, manager A.J. Hinch said that the Tigers will check back in with Manning on Tuesday to see how he came out of the bullpen session. Expect the Tigers to confirm shortly thereafter whether or not Manning will be able to take the hill Wednesday.
