Sale (1-2) took the loss Monday as Boston was downed 5-4 by Baltimore, surrendering five runs on nine hits and a walk over five innings without striking out a batter.

While the veteran lefty did keep the ball in the park, four of the O's hits went for doubles, as Sale gave up plenty of loud contact after being staked to an early 4-0 lead. He also wasn't fooling anyone, as he managed a paltry two swinging strikes among his 83 pitches. Sale has only one quality start through his first five outings of the season and has yet to string together back-to-back solid performances, saddling him with an 8.22 ERA and 1.74 WHIP despite a 30:10 K:BB through 23 innings. He'll try to turn things around his next time out, which is likely to come at home this weekend against the Guardians.

Quantrill (1-2) took the loss Monday, coughing up five runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.1 innings as the Guardians fell 6-0 to the Rockies. He struck out two.

A Jurickson Profar solo shot in the first inning set the tone for the evening, and Quantrill got chased in the fourth after giving up four singles and two walks to the first seven hitters he faced in the frame. It's not clear if the leg bruise he suffered in his prior start after a line drive comebacker had any impact on his poor performance, but the right-hander will take a 5.40 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB through 25 innings into his next outing, likely to come this weekend in Boston.

Keller did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing four runs on four hits and six walks over four innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out two.

Keller has now lasted just four innings in each of his last two starts. In fact, the right-hander has completed six innings only once across his five appearances this year. The struggling Royals desperately need the 27-year-old to give them more length on a consistent basis, in order to preserve their bullpen. The veteran is tentatively slated to face the Twins on the road in his next start.

Suarez allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings during Monday's loss to Oakland. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

Suarez was cursed by the long ball Monday, coughing up five home runs in the ugly start. He served up back-to-back shots to Brent Rooker and Jesus Aguilar in both the first and third innings. Suarez was in line for the loss before the Angels' bats got hot late and forced an extra inning. He's struggled out of the gate this season, posting an ugly 10.26 ERA and 12:9 K:BB through four outings. At this point, it's unclear if he'll get another shot in the rotation.

Waldichuk allowed five runs on six hits and a walk over 5.1 frames during Monday's win over the Angels. He stuck out two and did not factor in the decision.

Through five innings, Waldichuk allowed just a pair of solo homers to Brandon Drury and Chad Wallach. The Angels then broke through with a five-run sixth, including three runs being charged to Waldichuk. He's given up at least five runs in three of his first five outings in 2023, resulting in a 7.82 ERA and an 18:11 K:BB through 25.1 frames. Waldichuk forced just four whiffs, his lowest total of the year. The 25-year-old is currently lined up to face the Reds at home this weekend.

Brito (2-2) allowed three runs on three hits and three walks over 2.2 innings Monday, striking out one and taking a loss against the Twins.

Brito turned in two scoreless frames before the Twins broke out with three runs in the third inning. Minnesota has had his number in 2023; Brito has allowed 10 runs in 3.1 frames against the Twins this season compared to just two runs through 14.1 innings in his other three starts. His ERA jumped to 6.11 alongside a 12:10 K:BB. Brito's next start is projected to be in Texas this weekend.

Gray (3-0) allowed three hits and two walks over seven shutout frames Monday, striking out eight and earning a win against the Yankees.

Gray rolled through the Yankees with ease Monday. He coughed up just one extra-base hit and never faced much of a threat while snagging his third win. His season-high 18 whiffs helped improve his K:BB to 34:11 across 29 frames. Gray has allowed fewer than two runs in each of his first five starts, resulting in an outstanding 0.64 ERA. He'll look to continue the hot streak in his next outing, which is projected to be at home against the Royals.

Boyd (1-1) yielded two runs on five hits and a walk over five frames Monday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Brewers.

Boyd's stuff was locked in Monday. His eight strikeouts and 19 whiffs were both new season highs after he totaled just 11 punchouts through his first three starts. He allowed solo home runs to William Contreras and Mike Brosseau but was able to avoid danger otherwise. Boyd lowered his season ERA to 4.26 and picked up his first win of 2023. He's currently projected for a home matchup with the Orioles this weekend.

Bassitt left Monday's game against the White Sox due to right lower back tightness, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Bassitt appears to have avoided a major injury, though the team will undoubtedly monitor the right-hander closely over the next few days to determine if he can make his next start. The 34-year-old noted after the game that he feels fine and he won't even miss a bullpen session, per Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun.

Bassitt left Monday's start against the White Sox after suffering an undisclosed injury, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. He allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four over 6.1 innings before exiting.

Bassitt bounced a pitch to the second batter of the top of the seventh inning, and he immediately motioned for the team trainer to come out of the dugout. The team has yet to reveal the nature of the injury, so he'll be considered day-to-day until further notice.
