Waldichuk (1-2) gave up four earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out four over five innings to tally the win in a 10-4 victory over the Mets on Saturday.

Waldichuk allowed two home runs and threw only 71 pitches but was awarded the win thanks to an unusually ineffective Jacob deGrom and some poor outfield defense by the Mets. It was Waldichuk's first major-league win. The 24-year-old left-hander has made five starts since being called up at the beginning of September and has given up three runs or more in four of the outings. He is tentatively expected to make his next start at Seattle.

German gave up three earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings in a 7-5 victory over the Red Sox on Saturday. He did not factor into the decision.

The Red Sox got to German with a pair of home runs in the second inning off the bats of Triston Casas and Reese McGuire. German has bounced between the starting rotation and the bullpen recently, and he threw only 66 pitches in this contest. It was his first start since Sept. 9 against the Twins. The 30-year-old right-hander has been fairly effective in both roles for the Yankees despite being sidelined with a shoulder injury earlier in the season. German has a respectable 3.30 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 62.2 innings pitched, and his next expected start tentatively lines him up against the Orioles.

Detmers (6-6) took the loss against Minnesota on Saturday, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and no walks while striking out two batters over four innings.

Detmers couldn't find his footing in the loss, allowing two runs in the first inning and one run in each of the following three frames. He didn't walk any batters but notched only two strikeouts -- his fewest since June 8. Detmers looked like he had turned a corner between July 8 and Aug. 13, posting a 1.50 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 47:13 K:BB over 36 innings across six starts during that stretch. He's taken a step back since, however, registering a 5.28 ERA and 1.72 WHIP along with a poor 22:11 K:BB over his subsequent six outings.

Ryan did not factor in the decision against the Angels on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five batters over four innings.

All three of the runs Ryan allowed came in the third inning, and he was pulled after four shaky frames. The right-hander struggled with his control, issuing multiple free passes for the seventh time in his past eight starts. The walks hadn't hurt him in his previous two trips to the mound -- he pitched 14.2 scoreless innings while picking up two wins in those outings -- but they contributed to an elevated pitch count and consequently a short appearance Saturday. Ryan has shown plenty of promise this season, posting a 3.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 12-8 record while notching over a strikeout per inning.

Bubic pitched 4.2 innings Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six batters in a no-decision versus Seattle.

Bubic was far from sharp in the outing, as he threw only 57 of 103 pitches for strikes and walked four batters. He did, however, rack up six punchouts and put a halt to a streak of seven straight losing starts that extended back to mid-August. The left-hander had posted an ugly 7.83 ERA and 2.10 WHIP during the poor stretch, and though Saturday's outing wasn't much better, Bubic at least managed to walk away with his team in the lead. He'll look for his first win since July 24 the next time he takes the mound.

Gilbert allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters over five innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on Saturday.

Gilbert never settled into a groove in the outing, allowing at least one run in each of his first four frames. The right-hander had struck out nine or more batters in three of his previous four starts but punched out only three Royals on Saturday. Gilbert also saw his six-game stretch of allowing two or fewer earned runs come to an end, though Seattle's offense helped him avoid taking a loss. He still owns a strong 3.29 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 13-6 record in his second major-league campaign.

Martin (2-5) took the loss against Detroit on Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings.

As in his previous outing, Martin faced Detroit and lasted six innings to record a quality start. He was less sharp in this appearance, however, surrendering over twice as many hits and three runs. On a positive note, Martin rebounded nicely after giving up a two-run homer in the first inning, yielding just one more run the rest of the way. The rookie right-hander's 2-5 record is accompanied by a 3.86 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 39:17 K:BB over 56 innings.

Quantrill (14-5) earned the win Saturday, allowing one run on five hits over six innings against the Rangers. He struck out four and walked three.

Quantrill (14-5) was solid for six innings outside of a solo home run he served up to Marcus Semien in the third. The right-hander did walk two batters in the fifth inning but managed to escape without allowing any damage. Quantrill has now won his last 10 decisions and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in five of his last seven starts. He'll look to extend his winning streak against the Royals at home next week.

Dunning will undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his hip, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Dunning made a career-high 29 starts for the Rangers in 2022, and he posted a 4.46 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 153.1 innings. However, his season will be cut short due to his hip procedure. The right-hander's recovery timetable hasn't been determined, but the Rangers hope that he'll be ready for Opening Day in 2023.

Baz will undergo Tommy John surgery and won't play during the 2023 season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Baz underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his elbow in late March and returned to action for a month just before the All-Star break, but he was shut down in mid-July with a right elbow sprain and had already been ruled out for the season. The Rays seemed optimistic about his recovery process, but the right-hander will be forced to miss the 2023 season since doctors have recommended Tommy John surgery.
