Houck was tethered to two-run lead before he took the mound but surrendered baserunners in each of the first four innings that came around to score in the third and fourth. Finding the zone was an issue as only 57.7 percent of the 25-year-old's 78 pitches went for strikes, though Houck owns a respectable 1.08 WHIP across 86 innings in his career. The sophomore is looking to build on a strong rookie campaign and will look to get on track Saturday against Minnesota at Fenway.

Ober gave up four earned runs over five innings with four strikeouts and two walks to earn a win in his first start of the regular season in Sunday's victory over Seattle.

Ober gave up a three-run home run and four runs in the third inning, but he settled down by throwing scoreless frames in the fourth and fifth innings. Minnesota is going with a six-man rotation the first week of the season, so Ober is expected to make his next start Sunday at Boston. It's not clear if the Twins will stick with a six-man rotation after next Sunday.

Kopech allowed one run on two hits and two walks over four innings in Sunday's win over the Tigers. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Kopech coughed up an RBI triple to Victor Reyes in the second inning but kept the Tigers off the board otherwise. He started in four of his 44 appearances last season and never threw more than five innings in a single outing. The White Sox look to finally be stretching him out as a full-time starter after he missed the entire 2019 and 2020 seasons. Kopech is lined up to face the Rays at home next week.

Skubal (0-1) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk over four innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the White Sox.

The White Sox chipped away at Skubal for his entire outing, plating two runs in the first inning, two in the third and one in the fourth. He tossed 79 pitches (50 strikes) and produced nine swinging strikes. The 25-year-old southpaw looked terrific this spring, fanning 21 batters with a 1.32 ERA through 13.2 frames. Skubal is projected to start in Kansas City next week.

Wells (0-1) allowed four runs on three hits and two walks across 1.2 innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Rays.

All four runs against Wells came in the second inning, including a two-run shot by Brandon Lowe that ended his afternoon. It was his first career MLB start after appearing in 44 games out of Baltimore's bullpen as a rookie last season. As of now, he's projected to take the mound at home next week against the Yankees.

Kluber allowed three hits and four walks over 4.2 shutout innings in Sunday's win over Baltimore. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

Kluber was one out away from finishing the fifth inning and earning a win in his Rays debut before walking Cedric Mullins and yielding a single to Ryan Mountcastle. He tossed 52 of 87 pitches for strikes and forced 12 whiffs. The veteran righty posted a 3.83 ERA in 80 innings with the Yankees last season. Kluber is lined up to face the White Sox in Chicago next week.

Suarez (0-1) was handed the loss during Sunday's 4-1 defeat by Houston, allowing two runs on two hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Suarez was able to escape a bases-loaded one-out jam in the third but didn't have as much luck in the fifth inning, when reliever Austin Warren allowed both inherited runners to score and put Suarez in line for the loss. Manager Joe Maddon is reluctant to let Suarez through opponents' orders a third time as he's reached six innings in only one of 15 starts over the past two seasons, which severely limits his upside. The 24-year-old lefty is slated to take the hill next Sunday in Texas.

Urquidy (1-0) registered the victory in Sunday's 4-1 triumph over the Angels, allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts across five innings.

Urquidy surrendered the lone run on a Jack Mayfield solo shot in the second inning and was able to escape trouble in third when Kyle Tucker threw out Tyler Wade at the plate to end the inning. He was efficient, needing just 72 pitches to navigate five frames, but manager Dusty Baker opted to pull the righty rather than have him go through the order for a third time. The 26-year-old looks to build on a strong 2021 and 2022 in his next start in Seattle on Sunday.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said after Sunday's loss to the Rangers that Ryu has a hamstring contusion but should be fine, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Ryu was removed from Sunday's matchup in the fourth inning after he was hit by a comebacker, but he initially tried to wave off the training staff. He said that he doesn't expect that the injury will pose a problem, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the southpaw make his next start. He felt confident in his fastball for the first three innings of Sunday's matchup and tentatively lines up to start at home Friday against Oakland.

Kremer felt something in his oblique while warming up in the bullpen during Sunday's loss to the Rays, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Kremer was in the mix to operate as Baltimore's No. 5 starter to begin the season, but he was instead warming up to come out of the bullpen Sunday before the oblique issue cropped up. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, and the 26-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.
