Montgomery allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one batter over 4.2 innings in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays. He did not factor in the decision.

Bo Bichette homered off Montgomery in the third inning and manager Aaron Boone wouldn't let the lefty face Bichette a third time with a runner on base. The skipper lifted Montgomery for Jonathan Loaisiga with two outs in the fifth, which was frustrating for fantasy managers, but the move worked as Loaisiga struck out Bichette. Montgomery recently flashed his upside with an 11-strikeout gem against the White Sox, but he's also had a few letdowns this season. He will take a 4.22 ERA and 1.11 WHIP into the next homestand.

Ray (2-2) took the loss to the Yankees in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez both took the lefty yard, Nos. 13 and 14 allowed by Ray this season. Credit to Ray for not compounding those issues with a ton of walks like in seasons past -- he has amazingly handed out only 12 free passes in 52 innings so far in 2021. Ray will take a 3.81 ERA and 1.12 WHIP into his next start, which projects to be a "home" matchup against the Marlins in Buffalo.

Sandoval will replace Shohei Ohtani as the starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the Athletics, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Registerreports.

Ohtani was scratched from the start a little over an hour before the game was set to begin. The decision is reportedly not injury related, so this may turn out to be only a spot start for Sandoval. Through 16.1 innings this season, he has posted a 4.96 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with a 13:8 K:BB.

Schmidt (elbow) has played long toss up to 120 feet but still hasn't resumed throwing off a mound, Max Goodman of Sports Illustrated reports.

Schmidt is very slowly working his way back from an elbow strain suffered back in February, and the organization appears to have no desire to rush his return. Manager Aaron Boone has indicated that the right-hander is doing well, but given his current rehab status, it seems unlikely that Schmidt will be able to return to game action before late June.

Gonzales (forearm) is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Gonzales will return to the major-league mound after an absence of just over a month due to a mild forearm strain. The southpaw will be on a pitch count during Tuesday's start and is expected to pitch between three and four innings. Gonzales made five starts prior to his injury and posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 28.1 innings.

German (4-3) allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five across 5.2 innings, taking the loss to the Blue Jays on Thursday.

German made very few mistakes in the loss; however, the Blue Jays took full advantage of them with a pair of home runs by Bo Bichette and Marcus Semien. The 28-year-old is having a solid season with a 3.06 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP through 50 innings. He is averaging just one walk per five innings pitched. Currently, he is not scheduled to start in the Yankees' next six games.

Manoah (1-0) fired six scoreless innings on two hits and two walks while striking out seven to earn the win over the Yankees on Thursday.

In his MLB debut, Manoah looked like a veteran, striking out more batters (7) than baserunners allowed (4). It took him just 88 pitches -- 60 were strikes -- to get through six innings. The 23-year-old had a 0.50 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 18 innings in the minors this season, prompting his call-up. He ranks as the 96th overall prospect in baseball and a top-five prospect in the Blue Jays' system, according to MLB Pipeline.

Arihara underwent surgery Thursday to remove an aneurysm and repair the artery in his right shoulder, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The procedure puts Arihara's availability for the remainder of the season in jeopardy, though the Rangers aren't yet ready to rule out the right-hander from returning to action in August or September. He'll spend the next month resting up before the Rangers re-evaluate him in late June, at which time he could be cleared to begin a throwing program.

The White Sox placed Kopech (hamstring) on the bereavement list Thursday.

Kopech picked up a left hamstring injury during his relief appearance Wednesday against the Cardinals, but it's a personal matter that will keep him away from the team for the time being. According to James Fegan of The Athletic, manager Tony La Russa said that Kopech underwent imaging on the hamstring that revealed nothing overly concerning, so the White Sox are seemingly optimistic that he'll be ready to pitch once he's reinstated from the bereavement list. The right-hander will remain on the bereavement list for a minimum of three days and no more than seven.

Milone (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Milone hit the injured list at the start of May with left shoulder inflammation. The injury is apparently serious enough to shut him down for at least two months, so he'll now be ineligible to return before the start of July. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the Blue Jays to select Alek Manoah's contract.
