Luzardo is slated to work multiple innings out of the bullpen in Friday's game against the Rangers, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Luzardo has been impressive through his first two big-league outings and last took the hill Sunday against the Rangers, a game in which he earned his first save. The Athletics have previously stated they want to stretch out Luzardo even further than the three innings he's logged in each of his first two appearances, so he could be in for a bump in that workload Friday in a piggyback role behind Mike Fiers.

German pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief against the Angels on Wednesday, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out two. He did not factor into the decision.

German replaced CC Sabathia with the bases loaded and two outs in the third frame and induced a fielder's chose to end the threat. He hung around for two more innings, allowing three baserunners but no runs. German's transition to a bulk relief role in preparation for the playoffs has gone smoothly thus far as he has held opponents scoreless over 6.1 frames while racking up seven strikeouts. He'll likely follow Sabathia again when the Yankees take on the Rays in Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Odorizzi (14-7) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.2 innings while striking out nine as the Twins were downed 3-1 by the White Sox.

The right-hander fell one out shy of his eighth quality start of the season, but a rare lack of run support handed Odorizzi just his second loss in his last nine trips to the mound. He'll carry a 3.59 ERA and 171:52 K:BB through 153 innings into his next outing Tuesday in Detroit.

Bundy allowed one earned run on five hits and five walks while striking out eight across five innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the decision.

Bundy struggled with his control early, walking four batters through the first two innings. However, he avoided major damage and also racked up eight punchouts, backed by 18 called strikes and 13 swinging strikes. Bundy has largely proven to be effective in preventing runs of late, as he's now allowed three or fewer earned runs in five of his last six starts. He's likely to draw a rematch against the Blue Jays in his next start, currently projected to come Monday.

Milone (4-9) pitched five scoreless innings Wednesday against the Pirates, giving up two hits and zero walks while striking out one and picking up the win.

As planned, he came in as the primary pitcher after Justin Dunn opened the game with two scoreless frames for Seattle. While this seems like a reasonable way to deploy Milone, this was his first win since Aug. 20. If this arrangement continues, Milone could work as the primary pitcher twice next week (home against the Astros and A's).

Civale allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out four across 7.2 innings Wednesday against the Tigers. He did not factor into the decision.

Civale allowed his lone run in the third inning, but he otherwise held the Tigers lineup in check. He generated only five swinging strikes, yet he took advantage of the positive matchup by generating 17 called strikes and beginning 20 of the 27 batters he faced with a strike. Civale has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all nine of his starts with the big-league club, though Wednesday's outing marked his longest effort with the Indians. With the team having a day off Monday, Civale's next start is projected for Wednesday at the White Sox.

Allard (4-1) gave up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two through five innings to take the loss against the Astros on Wednesday.

A 2:4 K:BB does not jump off the page, but Allard fired four scoreless innings before giving up a two-run home run in his final frame. The 22-year-old has a 4.25 ERA with 32 strikeouts through eight starts this season. Allard is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday against the Red Sox at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

Cole (18-5) gave up two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out 10 through eight innings to earn the win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

Cole had 18 swinging strikes and 19 called strikes in the dominant outing. The 29-year-old recorded his 300th strikeout of the season in the appearance, making him the second fastest to that mark. To put perspective on how good Cole has been this season, he is only the 18th pitcher since 1900 to have a season with 300 strikeouts. Cole has a 2.56 ERA with a 12.6 K/9 in 200.1 innings this season. Cole is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park.

Turnbull pitched five innings of one-run ball but did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's game against Cleveland. He allowed six hits while striking out eight.

Turnbull was effective, but Cleveland starter Aaron Civale held the Tigers in check as well and kept Turnbull from picking up his fourth win of the year. It was an encouraging outing for the righty, who had allowed at least four earned runs in each of his previous five starts. He also struck out exactly eight batters for the second straight time. Turnbull will look to build on this effort in his next turn through the rotation, which is scheduled for Tuesday against a tough Twins lineup.

Bassitt has moved to the bullpen for the rest of the season, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Blake Treinen was shut down with a stress reaction in his back, which is part of the reason the A's wanted to add Bassitt to the bullpen mix. The A's still have five starting pitchers plus Jesus Luzardo, so it was a luxury they could afford. Bassitt could log a win or two down the stretch, as he should pitch in the middle innings of close games.
