Heaney (shoulder) could resume throwing off a mound as early as Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Heaney has been playing catch over the past week but progressing to mound work would be a major step towards his return from the injured list. The 28-year-old will likely require at least one rehab start before rejoining the Angels, likely pushing his return into mid-August.

Severino (lat) is nearly ready to throw off a mound, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Severino has resumed throwing for just over two weeks following a brief shutdown period in late June. He still has time to rejoin the Yankees by the end of the season, though he's likely to work out of the bullpen at first as he builds up his pitch count.

Kluber (forearm) will throw a simulated game Saturday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

A broken arm has kept Kluber out of game action since the start of May. If his session Saturday goes well, his next time throwing could come as part of a rehab assignment.

McCreery was designated for assignment by the Angels on Tuesday, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.

McCreery was promoted to the majors Monday, though he failed to see any action before being booted from the 40-man roster. JC Ramirez (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Ramirez (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Ramirez is finally back in action after recovering from last April's Tommy John surgery. He recorded a 7.40 ERA in 41.1 rehab innings, so expectations should perhaps be kept low for now. He's expected to serve as a long reliever down the stretch. Adam McCreery was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Ramirez (elbow) said after his rehab outing Sunday with High-A Inland Empire that he feels prepared to return from the 60-day injured list and make his season debut, the Associated Press reports.

On the comeback trail following April 2018 Tommy John surgery, Ramirez has made 12 minor-league rehab appearances spanning two different assignment periods. The Angels initially intended to bring back Ramirez in a starting role, but the team has since indicated that he will work in long relief once reinstated from the IL, perhaps as soon as Tuesday. Ramirez isn't expected to cover more than three innings in any of his appearances the rest of the season.

Turnbull (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Turnbull has been on the shelf since July 18 due to a back strain, but he's been deemed ready to embark on a minor-league stint. Considering he's been on the injured list for less than two weeks, this may be his only rehab appearance before being reinstated.

Keller (7-10) gave up four runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out five through seven innings to take the loss against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Keller managed to limit the Blue Jays to four runs even though he allowed three home runs. Keller had a nice July, posting a 3-1 record with a 2.12 ERA and a 24:8 K:BB. The 24-year-old has a 4.01 ERA with a 6.4 K/9 and a 3.8 BB/9 through 23 starts this season. Keller will make his next start Sunday against the Twins at Target Field.

Means (shoulder) is expected to make his next start during Baltimore's upcoming series against the Yankees, which runs from Aug. 5 to Aug. 7, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Means will be eligible to return from the injured list Aug. 4, though skipper Brandon Hyde revealed that the lefty likely won't return to the mound until a few days after the 10-day minimum. A concrete date for Means' return should surface as the weekend approaches.

McCreery was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

McCreery was dealt to the Angels from the Dodgers in mid-July, and he'll get a chance with his new big-league club after allowing one run over 4.2 innings at Triple-A Salt Lake. He last appeared in the majors during the 2018 season with Atlanta, though his stint lasted just one contest.
